Yes I will have to pay for everything. Which is why I waited this long. I think that's why I am so excited, I did it all by myself, and I will upkeep everything alone as well. It''s a used car that my step dad checked out for me. I even have him teaching me some of the basics just in case any problems arise!! I pick it up Saturday!!

congrats...and I'm glad to hear of another person who is paying for all this themselves...it irritates me how these days not many of my peers (teens) know the value of working, saving $ and purchasing things on their own. Trust me, from my own experience, you'll enjoy and appreciate that car much more since your own money bought it.

Oh btw i got a Grand Am too. A 2000 model and there are just a few little scratches on it and it's in good condition too. I like my car. lol and i pay for everything too, but i'm still paying car payments on mine. Got one more year and it's paid for!

ouch car payments, havent had to deal with that yet (bought my first Jeep w/ cash) but hopefully when I turn 18 in about 5 months I'll be trading it in for a newer truck probably, and then I too will have payments sadly.

Yeah it sucks, but i plan on keeping my car as long as possible. After college i'll look into buying something brand new. If i were you i would just wait until after college too. No need to rush out and buy something when you have it already.

Thats awesome! Good for you that you are paying for it all. Thankfully my parents bought me a good car....although I am trying to trade it in for a monster truck!!! hehe

Congrats, that's so exciting!!!! Are you loving driving it? Due to an unfortunate situation where my mom had a stroke and can't drive anymore, I got her old car when I got my license 2 years ago. It's a 1997 Ford Escort with roll-down windows and everything, HAHA. I'm very thankful for it though, since I didn't have to pay for it, my dad covers my insurance, and it only costs me $25 to fill the tank.

But now that it's 12 years old... I have a feeling that I'll have to invest in a new car sooner rather than later Thankfully I'm going to college in Boston this fall and I don't think I'll ever have a car on campus so I'll just be driving it summers from now on.
