Same here, but my reason is because he's so incredibly arrogant and sort of an ass%*le. He's sure is buying into his own hype.

Wow a lot of anti-Adam fans on here! But that's kind of expected, it seems like more people on here wouldnt be supporters of someone so outside the box like Adam. Carrie stated that she rooted for Danny and Kris on AI, most of her fans have similar personalities to hers, makes sense to me.

Some people are saying Adam doesn't "deserve" to be performing on the AMAs, but as stated already, Carrie performed at the CMAs back in 05 after Idol and she hadn't done anything either (at the time) and nobody had a problem with that. Some said Carrie's album (SH) was overhyped and nobody disagreed with that. It's a little hypocritical to be saying that Adam shouldn't be performing because he hasn't "done anything yet". Being nominated, I understand the argument on that one. But performing......

It's promotion!!

All artists promote their albums and singles!!! There's just a lot of resentment towards Adam because people think he's overhyped....when you put on good performances and have an amazing voice and put out fantastic songs (I assume most people on here haven't listened to his album yet) you're going to get praised. It's not like he can't sing and he's getting praise (and we all know who Im talking about so I wont even go there).

When someone so DIFFERENT steps out onto the music scene people are going to pay attention. People are going to talk. We haven't seen someone like Adam Lambert in a long time, that's why he's such a big deal to so many people. He's not an artist who is trying to be another Jay Z or another Shania or another Whitney or another Justin or another Britney....he's got his own thing going on and people are interested in it. What's wrong with that?

Really? I think it's great, and NOT just because I'm a fan.....every song is different, it's a mix of everything. The production is amazing. The lyrics are Adam. It's so different and unique compared to other releases today. I thought they did a good job with it, but maybe it just wasn't your style.

If there are so many good songs on the album, why did they pick one that radio has refused to play as a first single?

Who cares who sings where in on a show, more people watch at the start than at the end of most awards show, especially one as meaningless as the AMA's are.

No offense intended, but my GOODNESS am I ever sick of people assuming that people who don't like Adam are doing so just because he is "out of the box."

I could care less about his sexual orientation or anything like that. Those types of things don't matter to me. I'm sure he's a really nice guy, too, but that doesn't mean I have to like his music.

I like plenty of artists from other genres. In fact, I like most genres, from hard rock to pop to musicals to country, although country is my favorite. I simply don't like Adam's voice or his choice and styling of songs. Well, and the fact that he's been over-hyped to death is kind of annoying also.

I'm sure it's true for some people what you said, and that's really unfortunate because I would hope that in this day and age people could look past that, but I just wish people would stop putting all non-Adam fans into the same box, because we all have different reasons for not liking him, and for most of us it's not because he's "out of the box."

I have to disagree. Both performance slots are equally important. They present the most important awards at the end of every awards show, and the most expected performances are at the end also, to keep people interested, to keep people watching until the end, it's always been like this and it makes sense. HOW Adam's label got him the closing slot I have no idea. But I'm really happy for him since it's great promo and he has his record out tomorrow.
One more thing, and this is not directed to anyone in particular, let's try to avoid arguments, they're not necessary, we don't want this thread to be closed. We can discuss a subject without being rude to anyone.

Listened to AL's album. One word: boring.

There are a few songs that I like though like "If I had you". The rest was boring to me. IMO this album is overhyped.

People are going to pay attention to someone who is outside of the box, and yes, people are going to hate on him because he's getting all of the attention.

Look, we ALL knew that there was gonna be a lot of Adam talk when his album came out, so WHY are you people acting like this comes as some sort of surprise? I mean you guys are acting like this is some shocker that Adam's performing on the AMAs and people are hyping him up. He was the talk of the town on Idol, you knew he would be come album release time.

It's whatever floats your boat. I like Adam's music and I like that it's different and is a breath of fresh air.

That's not what I was trying to get across. Maybe I misunderstood you're previous post. It seemed like you were stereotyping, for lack of a better word, Carrie fans as in "oh, of course Carrie fans wouldn't like Adam". I know you didn't exactly say that, but that's the impression I got and I've heard it from several other places. If that wasn't what you had intended, my apologies.

I'm not upset about the fan buzz surrounding Adam, of course that's to be expected, but all the media buzz is just too much, IMO. From what I've heard of his album (haven't heard the whole thing but a little bit), it's nothing to get excited about. At least for me.

We all have different tastes for music. If you like dance/pop/electro music you're probably going to like Adam's album, if you like country music you're probably going to like Carrie's album, it's as simple as that. We are entitled to have different opinions and tastes. I personally don't like Kris Allen's album, but that doesn't mean it sucks, I just don't like it. Who am I to say it sucks?? It's only my personal opinion.

Adam is annoying and is one BIG attention whore.

don't get me wrong, love adam. and i can say that now that idol's over and i don't have a reason to hate him for winning, and he's not (technically) the competition anymore.

but honestly, i don't understand why he's getting so much hype. you'd think he won. i haven't herad his album, but all i know, is kris' album is INCREDIBLE. if you haven't done so yet i seriously suggest buying it. but it's like, kris WON. why isn't HE getting a performance spot? yes he's presenting and theeat'll be the highlight of the night second to carrie's stuff for me. but ugh i don't know. i just hate how people aren't giving him the spotlight he deserves, even though he won.

usually nothing on tv shocks me and I usually can handle anything. Adam lambert on the AMA's was over kill.

Kris was a presenter on the telecast but he was not among the Idol alums chosen to perform. That group included Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.

The self-titled debut album by the fresh-faced Arkansan was released last week and somehow you get the feeling Kris will be just fine in the music biz and in life.

He is a novelty act and unless he improves and moves on he will only get his 15 minutes of fame. I can see a Broadway career if the right parts come along though.
