Thread: Danny Gokey - country single "It's Only"

Just can't get behind it. Sorry...

I like Danny, but this is just not for me. I tend to spend my time listening to Jamie Johnson's style of country music. It's just to 70's soft rock for me. But good luck to Danny.

This is average at best.

I just got his Twitter and saw this thread before listening....poor Danny!

I'm just not into his voice. Also the lyrics seem preachy moreso than inspirational. When you listen to a song like Change on Carrie's album, IMO what makes it a really good song is that it lays out these scenarios and what it's really about is understanding how we all feel overwhelmed by the bigness of the suffering out there and don't know what to do about it. The difference with this song IMO is that it's more of a guilt trip plus IMO the vocals aren't anything special.

But it's the right kind of song for Danny, the Rascal Flattsish production and style. I don't like it much but his fans'll probably be into it.

I couldn't really hear his voice clearly through the production. I guess the raspiness didn't come clean when they recorded. It's not my cup of tea, but for his fans, it'll be ok.

i wanna hear a better version, the one i'm hearing is weird quality.

exactly my problem, i loveeee him, but i just can't hear the lyrics easily enough, haha.
