You can tune in live to the audio on Radio 2 here (I hope the link works overseas - but, of course, I can't test that):

Dwight Yoakam is on first - some great traditional twang-rock.

It sounds an enthusiastic crowd - I think this festival has really caught the fans' support in its first few years.

"Girl, you taught me how to hurt real bad
    And cry myself to sleep
And showed me how this town can shatter dreams
Another lesson 'bout a naive fool
    Who came to Babylon
And found out that the pie
    Don't taste so sweet

And it's guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music
Lonely, lonely streets that I call home
Yea, my guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music
It's the only thing that keep me hangin' on

Ain't no glamour in this tinsel land
    Of lost and wasted lives
Painful scars are all that's left of me
I wanna thank-you girl for teachin' me
Brand new ways to be cruel
Like findin' mine now I guess I'll just leave

And it's guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music
Lonely, lonely streets that I call home
Yea, my guitars, cadillacs, hillbilly music
It's the only thing that keep me hangin' on"

Great set - from one of the greats!

Miranda Lambert drops in for an interview. Says she likes the spontaneous, unplanned atmosphere of UK radio. Was jet lagged, but a few drinks have helped (they say we're with you there!). Shane McAnally mixed up a new drink he called a Lambertini! Says he's a great fun guy. Went shopping with Ashley earlier - they always get together at one or the other's concerts. Bob asked if there was any chance of the Pistol Annies coming over here to perform together - she says she hopes so - doing what you like best with your best friends is what makes it all worthwhile. Says she's nervous about tonight, but only has a minute to panic. It's only the second big concert they've given this year.

Frankie Ballard is their acoustic studio guest - says Miranda Lambert dropping in to watch him play made him really nervous - he saw her legs first!
This is part of a European club tour for him. He says keeping on trying depends on how badly you want it - if you're really committed, you're prepared to take a hit from dates you never know will work out.

Miranda made a big impression on both the male and female commentators - they said she was so down to earth and natural, and much of her appeal lies in the fact that she's like someone you went to school with, or could have a night on the town with.

They said the excitement when her band walked on stage could be felt, and the squeals when she came out would make her feel right at home.

    She starts with "Kerosene"

The energy in "Fastest Girl in Town" was amazing - she mashes these songs together - among the strongest Country Rock performances I've heard. If any fans are judging her mainly on the one off "showcase" event performances, you're missing out - she and her band sound tremendous live.

She thanks the crowd and says she doesn't feel nervous any more.

Gives a shout out to the "Southern Family" album, and sings her beautiful slow elegy, "Sweet by and by"

    This crowd goes wild!

Follows it with "Over You". This song always hits me hard - I know it's divisive, and some feel it could have been deeper - but the emotion in her singing really gets me every time - and it sounds as if the crowd loved it.

"Bathroom Sink" - RCA and Country Radio really missed out on this one - but there's not much this meaningful and soul-baring in the Mainstream today.

"Baggage Claim" (not one of my top choices - but again it got a good crowd reaction)

It sounded if there was some kind of brief mix up with her band after that.

After a Rock number, she thanked the crowd for their warm reception, and said take a moment to think about who you are and where you come from, and what you hold dear - coming from all walks of life is a source of strength for you and for the music.

Went into "All Kinds of Kinds" - I love the way she found that club anthem, and took it to the Mainstream.

Great slow introduction to "Smokin and Drinkin" - this is a song that I've always felt is very well constructed, with a great atmosphere, and impressive music. This is a varied set, with a good mix of pace and featured music.

Brandy Clark's bitingly satirical "Mama's Broken Heart" - a dose of modern Country with an Alternative vibe that Mainstream radio did accept (even if they have short patience for more of the same).

And then she follows it with a unashamedly traditional sound "On Down the Road We Go"

"The House That Built Me" (I wish that Carrie had felt able to include Tom Douglas's other "passage of time " song, "Forever Changed", in her own concerts - they're both such good, emotional songs)

"Automatic" (one of her biggest Mainstream songs - not my favourite, but probably one of the best known to the audience). As an aside, this song gave me one of my biggest "misheard lyrics" moments - I thought she sang "The girls will turn the boys down, saying Mary's on her way to sort your problems out" lol

"White Liar" - she includes a shout to the crowd "I've got new friends in this town!"

With an intro of "Who are my sassy girls tonight?" she launches into another of her club anthems - Audra Mae's "Little Red Wagon" (changing a line to "short blonde hair"). Wild crowd reaction to that song!

Back to her early Country Rock - "Gunpowder and Lead"

The "God Bless" must mean that's the finale, but the crowd are still yelling - surely she'll do an encore?

Yes, she's back - she says it was the first time and they were really nervous, and apologizes for messing up one song. She thanks the crowd for their warmth and forgiveness, and says they'll be sure to be back.

She brings out Ashley "my best friend in the world" and they sing a slow number together - a cover of James Taylor's "You've Got a Friend" - the crowd loved that.
