I'm a big Band Perry fan but not a fan of this song.
^Agree. Really like them but this song is more noise then music. Totally pop!!
Totally pop but I like it! Great first single!
It will help to wait till Carrie release her new single. Lol
I like it. They may make their mark in pop.
Now that's how you do a lead single. It's fire. It's immediately catchy, but the lyrics are definitely very general and don't really go anywhere. I guess that's why pop songs have so many writers.
Let's see how this actually does on pop.
^Not a Keith Urban fan, so wouldn't know about that!!
Its not doing much on itunes, at #45 right now, and was performed live in GMA. Im surprised...
Just saw the link to their GMA performance. I'm not liking it. From "Better Dig Two" to this? They are going in the wrong direction!!
I like it more than I thought I would. I think the best part of it is right before the chorus starts. It is really the only thing country about the song. The lyrics are pretty generally but I like Kimberly's delivery. They are definitely intentionally going for crossover success. We will see how it works for them. Hopefully they don't completely alienate the fan base that made them popular. Their two biggest hits were IIDY and BDT, both with a clear country identity.
Any place where I can hear it? the video in that iheart link is not working...
The last time I heard her, she was singing a faithful, complete version of John Hartford's classic portrayal of a drifter, "Gentle On My Mind" - a song that not even Lucinda Williams managed without leaving out some of the lyrics!
She has undoubted talent, and a feel for Country Music - and in this song, some of the talent still comes across to me, in the passages where she's singing alone, with mainly a percussion backing. I'm afraid, though, for me, it's lost in the choruses, which - frankly - I felt could be sung by almost anyone.
The general feel of the song, though, is not my kind of music, so I'm probably a poor judge. If it's an experience and a direction she and her brothers want to explore, I wish them luck, and hope they find what they're looking for in it.
In case anyone wonders about the Billy Joe Shaver song with the same title (mentioned in that article), this is it:
I actually thinks its a pop song as well. This would only work if you have a huge following as TS. I dont see this doing much on pop either. Expect for the live forever part, its not that catchy.
Lol, i really liked them but I will pass. But I must say, Mrs. PERRY got a nice, very nice derriere... Sorry, if I offended anyone.
Whoa, the comments on that link were brutal!!
