    Ashley Monroe The Blade

Ashley Monroe's 'The Blade' First Listen & Cover Art Exclusive : People.com

I really like the song. Those are great picture of her. Carrie, Ashley and Lindi in one year is good one for country.

    Thanks for posting.

I like this song (the title track) much more than I did Ashley's first advance single from the new album. I loved "Like A Rose", which gained great critical reviews, but seems to have made an impact that was chiefly confined to the Roots market - despite it's strong songwriting, Warner Brothers didn't release any of the tracks as singles to Mainstream radio. With this forthcoming album, they seem to be making a more determined pitch - the first release had a noticeably more Mainstream feel. This one is co-written by Allen Shamblin, who has also co-written some really heavy hitters over the years - including Randy Travis's "He Walked On Water", Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me", and Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" - together with another established writer, Marc Beeson, who's had songs recorded by Martina McBride and Lee Ann Rimes - and a young singer-songwriter, Jamie Floyd. (Jamie has a Mainstream-friendly approach, which I think Carrie could also consider, especially if she wants more Country Blues or contemporary Country Soul elements in her new sound - if you're interested, you might like to check out Jamie's Sound Cloud page

With these writers, I think Ashley has a strong song that could really broaden her appeal. You can see the lyrics to "Blade" here:

Another song from The Blade is released today on Itunes - I Buried Your Love Alive. She wrote it with Matraca Berg. So far all three of the songs off the album have sounded very different from each other. I am highly anticipating this album. I hope she keeps releasing songs from it before the album's officially drop.

These songs are on "The Blade" that are live. She is incredible artist. All her CDs are solid so far. This one seems to be shaping up to be very good as well.

All I can say is WOW! I love Ashley's voice, I've loved it since she did the duet/song featuring Ronnie Dunn years ago (I Don't Want To). I wasn't the biggest fan of "Like A Rose" because it was almost too rootsy/country for me. However, wow, wow, wow is all I can say about this album. It is AMAZING. I really hope they let her break through on radio on this album. Forget Kacey Musgraves and give this Album of the Year. It is SO MUCH BETTER than Pageant Material. I don't mean to diss Kacey, although she isn't my favorite, but this is where the critics' praise needs to be directed - to Ashley and this album. I am listening at work, so I can't concentrate on lyrics really well, but from what I can hear, there isn't a bad song on this album.

A live performance of "Dixie" by Ashley and her co-writers (Striking Matches). Sarah Zimmerman is singing with her.

I love this song - it's message hits home for quite a few people - and gives a darker riposte to the "feel good" mood of so many of the "dirt road party songs". These are some of my favourite contemporary artists - I'm glad they had the nerve to write this song, and sing it at the Hall of Fame.

^^^ I just love her sweet voice. I was able to buy her cd. I got it and listened to it. Her cd was not in store so I ordered it. She is versatile. I like The Blade a lot. She is such great writer. I cant pick favorite for now. There are so many great songs. Its very solid second album. Bravo Ashley.

    Anyone else like her humor?

Here is another performance I like that I watched on You Tube. Id love to see her live.

I love this album. I was hesitant about it, although I'd enjoyed her early singles like Satisfied and I'd enjoyed her work in the Pistol Annie's, but I never expected to love this album as much as I do.

I really like her work with Pistol Annies and her previous cds. I like that she showcases different kind of country like for example Winning Streak, I Buried Your Love, Has Anybody Ever Told You, I'm Good At Leavin. The genre has different styles.
