    Chris Stapleton - Traveller Era

I've been listening to Chris's album on Spotify. Haven't made it through the whole thing yet, but I really like it. It is a very bluesy style country - kind of reminds me of Jamey Johnson. I saw him in March when he opened for Little Big Town and I noticed on Twitter the other day that Miranda stated she loved his new album. Plus, he's a Kentucky boy, so have to support the home state guys! Just wondering if anyone else has listened yet.

His voice sounded AMAZING live. I am glad he opened for LBT or I wouldn't have known anything about him.

I think he's one of the best male artists in Country today. I strongly recommend him to anyone who likes a more Rootsy Country sound.
I first heard him as lead singer in the The Steeldrivers. Since going solo, he's won Emerging Artist of the Year at the IBMA.
He's a sogwriter as well as a singer, and has had cuts with many contemporary artists. He wrote "Nobody's Fool" on Miranda's previous album, and has toured with her.
His wife, Morgane, who often sings harmony with him, also writes, and her best known song to date is probably Carrie's early hit, "Don't Forget To Remember Me"

Faraway, thanks for making the connection between his wife and DFTRM. If I knew that, I had forgotten about it. He did a very stripped down set when I saw him with LBT and his vocals and his wife's harmony just sounded amazing together. One of my favorites from the album so far is "Nobody to Blame" and I like Traveller as well.

Also, it is really nice to see some Kentucky boys getting critical praise. With Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson, we are moving up in the country music world again. Granted, we have had some great artists from KY before like Loretta (obviously), Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, and Dwight Yoakam, but it seems like it has been a while since we've had someone that has become really popular.

Chris had a great tribute from fellow writer Shane McAnally on Twitter tonight:

I've listened to some of his songs on iTunes and really like him. He was on one of the afternoon talk shows last week, forget which one it was.

I bought his cd. It was only ten dollars. I got it earlier than I thought. It's very good. He is great writer. His singing is so good. I was watching him on You Tube. I would not mind seeing him in concert.
