    Johnny Gimble, RIP

Johnny Gimble, the legendary Western Swing fiddler, who performed with Carrie at the Grammys, has passed away, a little short of his 89th birthday.

Here is a reminder of that tribute performance, in which Carrie stops to applaud his solo. (Mr Gimble also had a photo of that scene posted on his web page)

I love the way he smiled at her during the performance. RIP Mr. Gimble.

Another interesting collaboration by Johnny Gimble was with Paul McCartney, on this record, which was one that Sir Paul cut in Nashville in 1974.

Thank you for this. It's bittersweet with the passing of Mr Gimble and this perfect performance. I remember being disappointed at the time that Carrie didn't sing one of her own songs. But, soon appreciated this flawless performance. Sad that Mr Gimble is no longer with us. Hopefully, Carrie & Brad do a tribute to him at the CMAs.
