Brad and Carrie should do "He Stopped Loving Her Today" at the CMA Awards.

RIP to a true country legend. Maybe THE biggest legend in the genre. Whether you were a fan of his music or not, you can't deny the impact he had on the genre. We wouldn't be where we are today without artists like him.

    Thanks for everything George!

So sad. A true legend and humble entertainer with an undeniable impact.

    RIP, George.

@rascalflatts George Jones was the greatest country vocalist that ever lived! Through the years we have all tried to emulate the passion in his voice, but no one can fill his shoes- Gary LeVox

@JoeDonRooney: There was & forever will be, only one #GeorgeJones - thank you dad for introducing me to George's music! Incredible!

@JayDemarcus I can't believe we've lost George Jones. One of the best singers ever, period. Country music will miss you forever... God bless his family..

Not exactly a role-model or the epitome of morals or sobriety, but he'll no doubt have a lasting impact on music.

To be fair, their job isn't to be a "role model" it's to be an entertainer. That's great if somebody in the public eye WANTS to be a role model, but that's the job of a parent.

And I'm not making excuses for addiction, but I'm not gonna judge somebody I don't know for falling prey to it. Most people have no idea what it's like to have that kind of pressure on you in the public eye; it's very possible his fame led to deeper problems (drinking and drugs).

Agree on both counts. I'm just always sad and disappointed when talent goes to waste, even though it could be argued that he continued to make good music through his wildest years (unlike, say, Whitney, Amy, etc.) Still saddening, though.

As for all the hell he put Tammy through...
