Decent review. And I imagine most of it is accurate.
I still don't think I would have steared him to do a christmas album this early.
Will it make the label money? Yes.
Will it give radio a song to spin during the holidays? Yes.
But for me, Scottys biggest problem, image wise, has been that he plays way older than he actually is. And this just plays to that instread of against it.
I think they should have gotten right back into the studio to create a much more meaningful series of songs that he could call his own as a sophmore effort.

exactly. it gives the label money. it certainly doesn't set him up as a legitimate recording artist. Who releases a christmas album, when they haven't even had a hit? haha

I think it's very smart of the label to keep Scotty's fans invested while he works on his second album. As long as country radio knows he still has a big following they may give him another chance. His label needs to do whatever they can right now. IMAO the rising popularity of Hunter Hayes hurts Scotty because country radiio will see Hunter as the one to bring them the young fans without having to support another American Idol contestant which they don't seem to like to do (excluding Carrie of course). Especially since Hunter's Wanted has been sent to Pop radio and if he crosses over with that it might make it really tough for Scotty.

Scotty's biggest problem is the male solo being so deep in talent, he is either going to have to wait his turn like Jason and Blake had to or he is going to have to get a big hit off his second album.

I still feel that there's a big prejudice about American Idol and if they can replace Scotty with Hunter as far as reaching the same young audience, they will.

Honestly, if I had to pick one of those two to be on my label I would take Hunter.

Sadly, me too, without even giving it a second thought.

I still hope that Lauren and Scotty can make it. They're young, there's time.

There is a lot of solid young solo male talent out there with Hunter and Scotty, Dustin Lynch and Brantley Gilbert are not that old either, the same can't be said for the solo females though, outside of Lauren and Jana Kramer there really isn't another solo female that I can't think of.

Random but recently I knew someone who went to college with Scotty even though they had never talked. He said Scotty is rather low key!
