    Doug Dillard, RIP

Sadly, we have lost one of the great pioneers of Country Rock, Doug Dillard, who has passed away at the age of 75. Best known for his work with his brother Rodney in the Dillards, and with Gene Clark in the Dillard and Clark Expedition, he also played with Byrds, and had a long career as a guest musician with many of the leading artists in the genre. While Country Rock today is especially associated with the Alternative Country scene in Texas and Oklahoma, Doug Dillard was influential in the development of the earlier California strain, which became very popular in the Mainstream, with artists like Gram Parsons and the Eagles.

This is an example of a Dillard and Clark song, which was recently covered by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant on their award winning album, "Raising Sand"
