    Etta James, RIP

Although she had been very ill for some time, it is very sad to read of the passing of legendary Blues singer, Miss Etta James. May God rest her soul.

This was her best known song. (I'm sorry for the focus on the dancers, who were taking part in a TV competition, but this is a possibly Etta James' last public performance)

A great loss in music. Etta was a true artist and icon. May she rest in peace, and may her family find comfort and peace as well.

Miss James covering Little Big Town's "Boondocks" on her last album.

(This great song, co-written by Jimi Westbrook, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman (then Kimberly Roads) and Philip Sweet, with Wayne Kirkpatrick, is one of my favourites, and I'm proud she saw the potential in it to record her own version.)
