THEY'RE NOT. They haven't even been nominated. RNRHOF people are b!tches. I don't get how GN'R even received a nomination since this is their first year of eligibility. Douches. Rush has been around since the '70s.
I saw Rush on my birthday a few months ago and they were absolutely perfect.I'm seeing Judas Priest next month (sans a founding member unfortunately).
Your brother is amazing.
So Evanescence didn't do my favourite song tonight. :/ Oh well. Amy Lee was absolutely stunning. She didn't miss a single note and didn't back off from the harder notes to hit. To be fair, she didn't do Lithium, though, which is the most difficult song to sing on the planet.
Any System of a Down fans on here? They're sounding pretty good right now. Serj Tankian is on fire tonight.![]()
Ok - I have been focusing on the lists people made for Trisha Yearwood and for Dixie Chicks. I love Trisha's voice - amazing. I haven't gotten to all of the songs yet. I am really enjoying the recommendation of This Is Me You're Talking To and The Dreaming Fields. I already know the songs on her Greatest Hits album and love those. I am waiting for another album from her to listen to some of the other songs people mentioned.
Ok Dixie Chicks - wow there are a lot of different songs people mentioned. So far I got Long Time Gone, There's Your Trouble and I Can Love You Better. I already had Sin Wagon which I was introduced to when Carrie performed it on Idol. I have Wide Open Spaces and I have Cowboy Take Me Away. I want to get Travlin' Soldier but right now I am sort of shying away from sad songs. I will definitely get it though. I still have this huge list though of their songs based on what people wrote here. That is a good thing though - a lot of research and exploring for me to do.
Love Katharine McPhee's voice. I have both of her albums. I love God Bless the Child which she used for auditioning for Idol. I wish that she had recorded that. I also loved Paris Bennett's "Take Five" which she sang in auditions. Anyway, I need to write a list for Katharine.
Katharine McPhee:
1. Somewhere Over the Rainbow
2. Over It (This song should have done much better IMHO)
3. My Destiny
4. Everywhere I Go
5. Better Off Alone
6. Home
7. Ordinary World (this has always sounded to me like a song they could have used for a Disney Animated movie)
8. Each Other
9. Say Goodbye
10. Not Ur Girl
I obviously liked her first album much better. I really think that she has not had material that is up to her talent level. I listen to her b/c I love her voice but I really hope that there is an album in her future that will fully allow her to shine.
Ok, I love Mariah but have been holding off on doing a list b/c there is just so much material. I may do a list that just covers her more recent material.
Anyway, thank you to everyone that is helping me find great music. I'm really enjoying Trisha and the Dixie Chicks which like I said is who I am focusing on right now.

Quincyeyes,
If you do buy "Travlin' Solider" make sure you buy the one from "Home." The one on "The Essential Dixie Chicks" is not the same one as the one released.
"Top Of The World" is an absolute gem; one of the best songs I've ever heard.
I don't remember if it's included on my original list, but "Heartbreak Town" is a great one.
Thanks for the tip and guidance. I have been trying to buy the songs off of their original albums rather than The Essential Chicks but now I know for sure to do that and I would have been upset if I had not gotten the version I wanted. I will definitely take a closer look at Top of the World and Heartbreak Town.![]()

didn't do evanescence since they've only have 2 albums out. or 3. i restricted my lists to artists with at least 4 full albums. i see they are about to release a new album after a good number of years.
imagine if Carrie waited as long as Evanescence. i think some on this board won't be able to take it lol
Yeah, lists with <4 albums are easier, so I prefer them. Maiden's list was an absolute nightmare.
What's your favorite Evanescence song?
I like that Evanescence don't "strike while the iron's hot." It makes them look like they aren't money grabbers. The new album's really good, and they honestly blew System of a Down and Guns N' Roses set at Rock in Rio.
I'd love to see this board after four years of no Carrie album.
ETA: Regarding Nightwish, I've only heard, like, ten Nightwish songs (I think I only dislike one of the songs, in fact), but MAN, their Gary Moore cover ("Over the Hills and Far Away") knocked my socks off. Almost as good as the original. Tarja totally made it her own.
well, that way its only the absolute favs that make the list
My Immortal, definitely. I haven't had a chance to listen to the new album.
It's too bad they felt they had to fire Tarja. I'm kinda undecided on their last album (first with new singer), i think it was a difficult album for them since they wrote the songs before deciding on the lead singer.
ill do original songs as well as covers (: ... not EXACTLY sure how accurate the actual ranking is since its always changes

I love Travelin' Soldier.
This thread has been so great. I have to say it again. I am working my way through all the Dixie Chicks songs b/c between all the recommendations I think every song they ever recorded was on someone's list. lol I'm enjoying it greatly. And then we have Trisha Yearwood and what can I say? (lol) I have fallen in love with the many ballads she has recorded that have been mentioned in this thread. I find them so soothing. I just have to thank everyone who recommends any music here b/c you never know that you could be opening an whole new world of music for someone else and that is where I am with Trisha right now. It is really nice to listen to material that is new to me by another great female country vocalist while I anxiously await new Carrie material.
Holy crap. That was awesome. Beautiful.
I'm seriously starstruck by it. I can't believe I've never heard it before.

Your Paramore list resembles mine.
"Travellin' Soldier" was written by Bruce Robison, who was then Emily brother-in-law. (His wife, Kelly Willis still calls Emily "my sister-in-law" in her tweets, although Emily and Charlie have, sadly, divorced, but remain on good personal terms, bringing up their children together)
I think the song had been recorded three times already - all off Mainstream - before the Chicks took it up. It was the single on the radio when the 2003 firestorm broke, and crashed it out of the charts immediately - so costing Bruce the biggest hit of his career. It's the writers who are paid royalties for radio play, and the effect was even bigger on Tim O'Brien, who would have had the next single, "More Love", which never appeared. Both stood by the Chicks, despite their loss.
I'm biased, as an early fan - but I couldn't agree more with the recommendation to look at their original pre-2006 material first. I don't mean to put anyone off the later material, but Rick Rubin's production, Natalie's new "de-twanged" voice, and the sisters' frequent relegation to "speciality" instrumental breaks doesn't have so much appeal for me. With "Taking The Long Way, I guess they did what they had to (and it does contain some good songs) - but reworking some of the older songs as well in the "new" style was, to me, unecessary, and a mistake.
Bumping to post this:
THAT'S why I freaking adore Bruce Dickinson. Holy crap. I got chills. That's the first video we've ever had of that song being done live. And, if you go to page one of this thread, this is my favorite Bruce Dickinson song. Just listen to that. This is gonna go down as my favorite YouTube video ever, just watch. I've been waiting for a video like this for ages.
I would've gotten it a few weeks sooner had Bruce's fan site not kept crashing on me. <_<
Either way, GIVE THAT A LISTEN. Holy freedom fries, Bruce sounds great nowadays, doesn't he? I almost cried, I've been wanting footage of this song live for so long. I feel like I've found the Holy Grail. And Bruce just sings with so much conviction.<3
Maybe 2012 will be a good year. I mean, look how it's started for me. JACKPOT.
