I really cannot wait for her new album. I hope it doesn't come out when Carrie's does though. lol Other then that- I am going to be 1st in line. lol
Well, the real test will be the fact that Mutt Lang wrote jmost of or a lot of her songs and produced them, etc, so he played a big part in how successful she was and now that avenue is gone so we will see how that affects her songs and how it is produced, etc. I loved her previous music so wonder how it will go now.

I am surprised though that there is one in the works. She was on Oprah and said she has a throat issue (vocal cords I assume) and they were working on it medically through a doctor but if she had to sing at that time of the interview, she could not so I am guessing it must be better if working on songs.

Maybe it's just me, but I found that clip very lackluster.. I mean this big long wait for new music and then that clip? It was very underwhelming to me.. But I'll hold off judgement until I hear the entire song.

you have to remember tho, her sound is going to completely change. She's still a great songwriter, she was writing way before Mutt, BUT he helped create this sound for her. I'm def going to just listen to all her music with an open mind.

    I agree 100%.
On her first (pre-mutt) album there's only one song I believe that sounds close to what Mutt brought to her future country songs. On TWIM, even though I'm not sure exactly how much Shania did vs how much Mutt did, but the only song totally written by Shania (Leaving is the only way out) was never considered to be a single.

My guess is that her current sound will sound a lot like No one Needs to Know. I'm not sure if she'll go the crossover route again, but I'm hoping she has a ton of songs written that her new producer will take days sifting through.

When she co-wrote the song "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" (from "Oops!...I Did It Again" in 2000, after the success of "The Woman In Me" and "Come On Over" and before "Up!") for Britney Spears, she also wrote it with R. J. Lange (and he also produced it on his own) and Keith Scott. Now, I'm not sure whether it was simply a leftover or something, but if she wrote it espcially for Britney, and she still needed Mutt to write and produce with her, I'd think she heavily depends on him. This way, I do see how she's not confident enough to get some new music out.

Anyhow, ever if she releases another "Come On Over" today, chances are that it's not gonna smash because it doesn't sound 'current' anymore. Of course her name will carry her somewhere but she really has to fit with today's music to survive after her first single. I think it'd be very hard for her to own the Pop format like she did now, since even Pop-rock-ish tunes couldn't go too far with the only exception being P!nk ("Raise Your Glass" & "Perfect") who has always been bigger than Shania on Pop radios.

Anyway, I hope she pulls a Garth Brooks to block a certain someone from getting to the top.

She will be doing a 2-year residency in Vegas starting December 1st, 2012. 60 shows a year. The show will be called "Still the One".

Still enough time for an album though.

With a 2 year period in Vegas, I think It would be simply amazing if was possible to see Shania AND Carrie (whenever the next tour starts and goes to Vegas) within the same day or two.

"Today (Is Your Day)" grows on me big time after hearing her singing it again and again. I've heard the studio preview as well but so far I prefer the live acoustic version so much more.

CMT Canada are showing a one-on-one interview with Shania & Paul McGuire this Saturday. Paul was able to get Carrie to admit that she's a fan of "adult movies", so it could turn out to be a good interview with Shania lol

Carrie said in an interview that she liked "adult movies", but she wasn't referring to porn lol. I think she laughed because she realized what she had said.

Carrie was saying that as a kid she watched a lot of scary movies and not Barbie or other cartoons. Since her sister's are so much older than her she always watched what they watched, not kid movie but grown up movies such as scary movies!

this other performance is one of my favorites. what an entertainer. she could work the stages like no other with such amazing charisma and connection to the audience.
