^The show is pretty much all about Darren Criss. The Versace family hasn’t been featured all that much. Edgar has done a good job though. Although I know nothing about the actual man.

In honor of the Olympics I watched one of my favorite movies last night, “Miracle”. I think I have “Cool Runnings” on my DVR. May have to rewatch that one as well.

Phantom Thread- Dang. I really enjoyed this movie. Like a lot. I mean theres not a lot happening and its kinda predictable but there's just something about it that's magic. Im kinda of obsessed with Daniel Day Lewis in this movie. I won't lie, Ive only seen DDL in this, Lincoln, and Nine lol. So Ive never fully appreciated him as an actor but I really loved him in this. As far as PTA movies go, I felt like this was the most...."normal" of his movies. So I also enjoyed that haha. I think this one is going to end up being high on my Best Picture list, I only have Darkest Hour to watch. Ugh. I think Lesley Manville was okay but I enjoyed a couple more performances more in her category.

    Closed out categories-

    Best Supporting Actress-

    1) Laurie Metcalf
    2) Allison Janney
    3)Octavia Spencer
    4) Lesley Manville
    5) Mary J. Blige

    Best Director-

    1) Guillermo del Toro
    2) Paul Thomas Anderson
    3) Greta Gerwig
    4) Jordan Peele
    5) Christopher Nolan

I have to be honest. I stared at Best Director a long time before deciding that order. It may even change. I actually enjoyed ALL of the directing styles nominated.

This year is just so boring. Glad Kaluuya won the Rising Star award.

^It's not unlikely. 3 billboards/Shape of water could be the end result or it will be Shape of Water in both.

    Phantom Thread
: I don't know what I expected from this film but I did not expect it to go in the direction that it did. On first watch, I really liked it and it's a movie I think I'd want to watch again just to catch all the nuances. DDL and Vicky Krieps were great. The latter should have been heavily in the conversation for best actress. I loved the dramatic score. I agree with Hannah that PTA made this movie completely accessible unlike Inherent Vice. I didn't find myself drawn to Lesley Manville's character much but she was good in the character.

I think I can wind up most of the feature film categories if I just watch The Darkest Hour. I tried this weekend but didn't find it in the couple of places I looked. There's also Denzel Washington's Roman J. Esquire movie and Christopher Plummer's movie before I cross off the acting categories.

I'm so torn on whether to predict Three Billboards or Shape of Water. I do think if Three Billboards wins Original Screenplay, it wins Picture. The problem is I can't decide between it and Get Out in Screenplay, lmao.

I watched Black Panther last night btw. Absolutely one of the best Marvel films, right up there with Winter Soldier and Civil War. The storyline is good, if not a little predictable. I was genuinely impressed by how well the movie was able to handle a large cast and give everybody their due. This movie has one of those rare Marvel villains who has a relatable or understandable motivation. The production design, the music are all really awesome. Absolutely go watch it if you get a chance. It's well worth it even if you don't necessarily like superhero movies.
