What did you think of 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'? I can see nominations for Production Design, Editing and Cinematography. The camera work is the most important aspect of the story telling. The aspect ratio varies throughout the movie to indicate the difference in eras. What it has going against it is probably being too stylistic.

The Lego Movie and How to Train Your Dragon 2 are the biggest contenders for Animated film. Lego Movie probably has the upper hand here. I haven't seen HtTYD2 but the Lego movie is fantastic and it has something to say about corporations and individuality.

The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy are probably top dogs for VFX, along with Interstellar (I assume).

I keep reading that the Best Actress race isn't very tight this time. Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore are said to be possible contenders. Shailene Woodley is also mentioned. I don't know if Jessica Chastain is considered to be in the running for 'The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby'.

Actor seems to have strong contenders already; Steve Carrell, Bill Murray, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne etc

Lego movie is next on my list to watch. Ive heard great things about it. Not a single person who's seen it has told me anything bad about it. Im excited.

Im a very big Wes Anderson fan. So I loved Grand Budapest. It was actually one of my favorites from him. I don't see it getting nominated for Best picture but I do see it getting nominated for Original Screenplay.

I adore Jessica Chastain and Id really like to see her in more. I think she's been busy making a lot of movies so we'll get to see some soon. I heard about Eleanor Rigby over a year ago and Ive been waiting anxiously to see it. Cant wait.

I just watched Map to the Stars. All i have to say is woah. Im not sure what I just watched or how I feel about it haha. Ill have to take some time to process it. BUT I felt like it was an extremely slow movie that all of a sudden sped past the climax and then resolved. There was a huge reveal of a secret that seemed to get glossed over. I understand what It was trying to portray, the negativity of hollywood and this business but eh. Julianne Moore was great in it though.

We will be getting the roundtables soon. I love those things although I'm partial to the Emmy roundtables than those for the Oscars.

The Drama Showrunner roundtable this year had Matthew Weiner, Vince Gilligan and Aaron Sorkin. It was like porn.

I read that Reese Witherspoon got tons of Oscar buzz for Wild at the Toronto film fest. Reading that book now. Cannot wait to see it!

also oddly Bill Murray is getting buzz for his film- forget the title.

Keira Knightly also got great reviews and some buzz. I also heard Julianne Moore's name mentioned for two separate roles.

^ i believe Keira is for imitation game, Juliannes is for Map to the Stars annnndd Still alice (not sure), and Bill Murrays is for St. Vincent.

not certain about Juliannes second movie I'm too lazy to look it up. Wild looks great. Good for Reese. I feel like i haven't seen her in anything in forever. after watching all the trailers I'm SO EXCITED for this season

You gotta hand it to Richard Linklater for the sheer energy and commitment that went into Boyhood. I can't wait to watch it. Screener versions are already available (word of the thread isn't it? lol) but the good prints should be out soon enough.

Bill Murray and Steve Carrell seem to be seriously in the running. Good for both of them. Murray's only nomination was for 'Lost in translation' if I'm not wrong. Carrell is almost unrecognizable in 'Foxcatcher'.

GRAND. BUDAPEST. HOTEL. Oh my god, how freaking perfect was Ralph Fiennes in that role? Gahhh. I really loved the film and I'd love to see it get a lot of nominations, though Wes Anderson, so you know, maybe it'll get Screenplay.

That is literally the only movie on the list you made Hannah that I've seen so far, hah. Though I'm going to watch Maps to the Stars next. I love Cronenberg so I've been eagerly anticipating this one. I also really want to see Begin Again soon because John Carney. It could get some Globe nods.

The Inherent Vice trailer came out yesterday, by the way.

Ohh yes I'm also planning on Gone Girl probably next weekend. Hopefully. I've been wanting Rosamund Pike to be an Oscar nominee since An Education soo... I'm not going to be biased at all here.

I never saw 'An Education'. But I remember a lot of vocalized support for Carey Mulligan for best actress that year.
Gone Girl tops my must see list. I've been debating whether I should read the book before I see the movie.

    Inherent Vice looks freaking awesome.

I love Ralph Fiennes, he is one of my favoirte actors. He is brilliant in everything that he is in. I still have to go buy that movie because I soo want to see it, but I really do not watch a lot of tv nor do I really watch a lot of movies. I watch the news, games of thrones, the walking dad, and this show on the cw called the originals, and that is pretty much it lol.

Finally sat down and watched Boyhood. And I'm super happy i did. It's not a movie for everyone. But if you're born in the early 90s,whether youre a boy or girl, it'll basicslly be like you're watching your life. Haha. (Mostly everything was something that happened in my life besides the divorces in the movie). It was great. I Am a bit surprised it's getting award talk. But I enjoyed it. It's extremely long though.

Probably not in the awards race (maybe has a shot for the technical ones) but I thought Lucy was awesome. Just watched it and what I liked the most is how fast (its like only 86 min long or something) and straight to the point is. The special effects are cool. The acting was good. I liked it.

Oh yes I really liked Lucy as well. I agree it's not an awards movie or anything, but I love that a female led original action movie did so well. And it was really entertaining!

Ummm, yes please? Haha, it always takes me forever to get to movies that are 3+ hours long but man, I have heard nothing but amazing things about this one.
