There is EVIL in the world.... This just proves it again....My heart goes out to all the family members of the victims... And I pity the family of the shooter.... One time I was asked a question in a poll.... Would you want your son to be the killer or be killed.... Either one is unthinkable but I said be killed.... As for the people in this thread trying to turn a tragedy into a political issue all I can say is maybe someday you will grow up... Although I doubt it....

You know what pisses me off? When people turn things that weren't a political issue into a POLITICAL ISSUE. I personally don't have an opinion on gun control, but the point was that LIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN SAVED! How is that not related to the discussion? Please enlighten me? The comments weren't about POLITICS, they were about SAVING PEOPLE. I really wish people would stop interrupting and closing threads because some poor little child got his/her feelings hurt. Wahh! Get over it. It's called life! I have never seen such nazi control over thread posts before.

Problem is not political at all.
Guns kill lots of people really fast. Thats a problem. If social common sense says we can't carry bombs around with us at the supper market..........(fill in the blank).
Truth is, the research has been done already.
And we don't like the results.
The more guns people have the more people die by guns. Guns end up in citys. And the more guns there are the more people die. This is not a debate, it is fact.

I was talking with my 22 year old daughter yesterday and said the exact same thing. We were talking in the car about it and I said that the guy that shot the people probably has a mental issue. So, instead of talking about gun control, lets talk about how so many people in our world have mental illnesses that until they shoot a whole bunch of people we don't want to deal with? Yes he is the most hated person in the world but I know families that have adult children with mental illnesses are always worried about them. Are they taking their meds, are the okay, have they had a psychotic break?
I agree with Russ, I would not want to be the parent of a person who killed a bunch of people because although he was an adult their lives are ruined. They will get hate mail, calls and be harassed by the media to see if they could have done something too prevent it.
I also know that gun control won't solve the issue, although it will help. How many people who really want to kill (ie gang members) will get guns? Don't you watch TV and see how people are able to buy illegal guns for a sum? Even with stricter gun laws this guy stilll would have been able to buy a gun - he had nothing in his history to prevent it.

You can't legislate morality... Evil people will do evil things... Including breaking the law to get firearms...
Because of the foresight of our founders we have the 2nd amendment....
Thank God because if a evil person tries to screw with my family I will blow them off the face of the earth..And send them to hell where the belong....
I've never had to draw my weapon in anger but thank God I live in a Country that gives me that RIGHT if I need it...

I, personally just think there needs to be limits.
There is just not any lgical reason to be able to own the weapons of mass distruction that this person bought and paid for at his local gun shop,unless he fantisized and planned to kill many many people in his own sick and twisted game of fame.
We don't allow child-porn cause it hurts people. Cocaine hurts people.
Semi automatic weapons pointed at theatre goers hurts people.
Of course people will always find a way to make it happen. But why do we help them so much.
I will never have children so it is not my children we are talking about here.
I just think all children deserve to live on streets where semi-automatic rifles with a hundred rounds of amo are not in peoples back seats.

My wife & I both have guns and thank goodness have neved had to use them but if God forbid the need should ever arise both of us will use it.

People need to realize that this guy is a freaking nutcase and he could have just as easily went boarded up the doors and set fire to the place then will people want to ban matches?

Those guns didn't go into that theater and shoot anybody, the psycho who was pulling the trigger did.

Have you ever wonder why many third world countries often have a coup d"etat by the military or military General?

Why do some countries in the world are ruled by military juntas for decades ?

If you can answer these questions, you can realize how important the Second Amendment of US Constitution is !
