Carrie Chatter Transcript
Youngstown, Ohio....June 11, 2008
This is my first time attempting this. The comments below are all of Carrie's spoken words at the Youngstown concert. If I wasn't totally sure what Carrie said or couldn't exactly make out what she said, I surrounded those words with ???question marks???. Any of my personal comments are in (parentheses).
Enjoy!
=====================================
"Flat on the Floor"
Carrie says: What's going on, everybody? All right!
"Wasted"
Carrie says: Thank you so much for that warm welcome! Very glad to be here tonight in Ohio. ???Let's join these bright young stars and??? thank you guys for coming this evening! We're gonna have fun. The show (???two words here--couldn't make them out???). Hope you guys will have fun, too. Sing along if you know it!
"Get Out of This Town"
in song, after the lyric "...long gone baby," Carrie says: You guys are ???groomed hip??? C'mon, make some noise! (finishes song)
Carrie says: Thank you! So I don't know, uh. I'm gonna grab a drink real quick. I don't know how much you guys know about me, but um. I, uh, I always loved to sing. I always thought it was a really cool job and I, uh, or I never really got paid for it until (Carrie laughs) I started doing this stuff. But, um, yeah, I grew up in a very small town, went to a small school, went to a small college, graduated with a mass communications degree in journalism -- which is really ironic because of the people...that I run from now. But speaking of journalists...like 99% of them are awesome and they report the truth. (Carrie sees a fan in the front row). Do you want me to throw it? I'll throw it to that girl right here. There's a sign. She made a sign. Sorry, I'm not a good arm there. It says, "Can I have the guitar pick?" So I just gave it. Anyway (Carrie laughs), um, yeah. I just want you guys to know that like 99% of journalists are good. But also 99% of stuff that you see is bad. And, uh, I include myself in that. It's not fun going to the grocery store and seeing what kind of love triangle I'm in this week. You know? It's hard enough to date anyway, and if I, like, talk to some guy for five minutes, we're automatically getting married next year. It's weird! But, um, yeah! So, uh, that said, um, I'm gonna sing about something, a love that is very true in my life. And it's the love between me and my dog. His name is Ace! And that relationship is 100% real! He's the best thing that's ever happened to me! And this song's all about him and all those other guys out there.
"The More Boys I Meet"
in song, after the lyric "...the more I love my dog," Carrie says: Help me let me know exactly what I'm talking about here (continues song).
in song, after the lyric "...give anyone a shot once," (Carrie begins looking for prince charmings).
Carrie says: Now I know there's gotta be some prince charmings in Ohio. And if they are anywhere, they are here this evening. So I need to know where you are, prince charmings! (Carrie spots one) You were the first one to raise his hand. Very confident! Nice! (Carrie stops half way down the catwalk). Awww, this is no fair! There's a cute little girl on your shoulders! Get me to sign something! (Carrie signs an autograph -- this moment was absolutely precious!) (Carrie continues walking) Talkin' about cute boys here. Any cute boys on this side?! Any prince charmings, I should say? Nice to meet you both, prince charmings! You guys are nominated. All right! (continues song)
End of song, after the lyric, "...the more I love my Ace," Carrie says (while at the end of the catwalk): Thanks for coming ???from the album??? here tonight.
"Just A Dream"
(Some instrumental stuff while she changes)
"Jesus, Take the Wheel"
in song, after the lyric, "...hands up in the air," Carrie says: "sing it with me!" (finishes song)
"I Know You Won't"
Carrie says: Thank you. You guys have been so great welcoming us to your hometown. So I'd like to take y'all on a little vacation to my hometown, Checotah, Oklahoma. Population, 3500. All right.
"I Ain't in Checotah Anymore"
in song, after the lyric, "I Ain't In Checotah," Carrie sings: "...there's nothing like Youngstown, Ohio." (finishes song)
(Some more instrumental stuff)
Carrie says: Give it up for my band, everybody!
"Crazy Dreams"
Carrie says: That ???theme in (Crazy Dreams)??? is very, very true in my life. Um, I've had some crazy things happen to me over the past three years, and I am so grateful. Um, I was talking earlier about my life before Idol. It was just a completely different life. I'm very, very lucky. I have a wonderful family. I have wonderful friends. And I have ???these cool??? guys (band members?) that go everywhere with me, if I (even) think of it. But, uh, they're fans, and they're great, and I'm very lucky. And I have you guys (the audience)...Cool! You guys are pretty awesome! But, I, uh, just want to take a moment to thank all of you, um, for whatever support you've given. Whether it was voting, whether it was, you know, just watching and crossing your fingers or, um, whether it was buying an album or downloading a song, and, of course, for coming here tonight. So thank you guys for all the support that you've given so much! Clap for yourselves! Get up! Because none of us in this music industry could do what we do without you guys. You guys are a pretty important part of that, you know, on the machine! So thank you guys.
One of the coolest things that's happened to me over the past three years was, uh, being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. And that's just...that's not something that happens to everybody, and, uh, they don't have to ask everybody to be a member. They...they pick like two people a year, and...and I was very lucky that they asked me. Um, so the next song that I'm gonna do is actually by the person that, uh, asked me on the behalf of the Opry to become a member. His name is Randy Travis...and it was such an amazing moment in my life. And this song is...was special to me before. But it's extra special to me now because of that whole wonderful evening. So I hope you like it.
"I Told You So"
"Lessons Learned"/"That's Where It Is"/"We're Young and Beautiful"/"Some Hearts" Medley
Thank you guys! You made it become #1! (This was the week when Last Name moved up to #1 on the charts)
"Last Name"
Carrie says: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I want to, uh, I hope I ???just wanted to say??? But just in case, I gotta say it. Kids... (unfortunately, my recorder ate my tape here and I lost a few sentences before I could get it back, but it's Carrie's disclaimer to the kids in the audience not to do this. As my tape regains the audio)...
Carrie continues: ...be your guide. I do not advise you to do that. Hey, I thought that was funny. It's funny out there (in Vegas). I don't care who you are. Oh, goodness! Gracious!
We've, uh, been out on the road for awhile now. ???Our (bus) driver, he??? started gettin' a lot of toys wracked up, and they got a motorcycle and all that good stuff. (This next part is a classic!) I'm not a motorcycle chick myself. They scare me. I had a moped once.... And I wrecked it.... And I never got on it again. And, uh, I rode my friend's Formula One... And I wrecked it... I never (Carrie laughs) got on it again. I still have a scar on my knuckle. Here I'm about to sound really, like, rock & roll entertainment. I accidentally ran into a feed-spreader. Awwright? (Carrie laughs) Try explaining *that* one to the parents! Put the brakes on, Carrie!
I'm a bad driver, in general. I, um, I've never had a wreck, knock on wood, but, um, had a lot of run-ins with inanimate objects. Stuff that's just sitting there...trash cans and things. You name it... I've hit it. Nothing moving. Nothing - not a person, of course. Nothing wide, thank goodness! I thought I hit a, uh, mouse once, a little field mouse. It was laying there off the road. I started crying...pulled over...turned the car around and went back to check on it. I know! (Carrie laughs nervouslessly, in half-laugh/high-cry like fashion) I'm awful! My life...is great! But I make myself...I stress myself out!
Anyways, so as I was saying, before (getting sidetracked) I got off waaay tangent, waaay out there into left field. Um, we've been out out on the road since, um, the last day of January. We've gotten home a couple of times since then, and we've had awards shows and lots of fun stuff in between. But, um, we've been out here for awhile. And we do it because we love it. But we also, uh, we get to ???run into our (families/loved ones) sometimes??? They come out to see us. But it's still not the same when you're in, you know...I mean, I don't have it. I'm home alone. But you guys get to wake up with your significant others and your kids and everything. It's all good, though. This makes me ???nod??? because it makes me think of my parents, my family, and my friends and I do love them (while they're) waiting for me back home!
"Don't Forget to Remember Me"
"Twisted"
Carrie says: So I was saying earlier that I see a lot of youngins in the audience tonight. I saw some, uh, older people clapping there. You (older) guys aren't supposed to clap at that. Um, no, I...I remember my very first concert. I think I was about ten years old. And, uh, we went up to Oklahoma City. And, uh, Alan Jackson and Faith Hill were playing at like a county fair, something, going on. I don't know. I don't remember (???the name of the fair/tour???). I don't remember the event, but I remember seeing them -- just thinking they were ah-maz-ing. And, uh, now I talk to Alan. I remember the first time I met him. I told him he was my first concert. And you gotta kind of know Alan. (Carrie realizes what she just said). That's so weird. I know Alan! (Carrie laughs). I know Alan Jackson, everybody! I mean, I never thought I'd say that! But that, uh, you were my first concert ever. And he's like... (Carrie speaks in a deep voice)..."Well...thanks for making me feel old." And he says to me everybody has their own impressions of Alan Jackson. And he sounded like that, but much deeper. And how do I sound? I'm trying to get a man's voice going. I don't know whether it worked.
But anyway, back to the story. Once again, a tangent. Ah, (I see) a lot of young people in the audience, and you remind me -- all the girls remind me -- of myself when I was your age. You're typical...wonderful, beautiful, perfect, All-American girl!
(the music starts playing so it was hard to hear at this point). Carrie says (still talking to the little girls in the audience): I went to the concert, I know ???who you are???" (more music). Carrie says: So this one's for you!
"All-American Girl"
"So Small"
(Carrie disappears in the stage before the encore)
(Carrie reappears)
Carrie says: You guys that know this one, please sing along!
"Paradise City"
"Before He Cheats"
in-song, after the lyric, "..not on me," Carrie says: Help me now in Ohio! ???Come on -or- sing along??? (you know how loud it is by this point

)
Carrie says: All right! Thank you guys so much for coming out tonight!...
You are all ???(the reason) why I want to keep coming back??? (it's extremely difficult trying to hear at this point)....
Thank you very much!...
I hope you guys ???enjoyed that hard rockin' sound!???....
I hope you had a good time!....
(Carrie then looks directly at Perry & me. We were holding up Perry's "Can I Get A Woot Woot" signs that she made)...
Woot Woot! (that was an awesome moment!!!!)....
Give it up one more time for my band!....
Thank you and good night!
