Taylor Swift Insists She's Country

Taylor Swift may have just won the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Artist, but she maintains she's still country to the core.

"I think a country song is when you are singing about being proud of your life," Taylor tells CNN. "I sing about love and boys, and that's my life. So that's what fascinates me -- feelings. And so I think if you're singing and writing songs about the way that you live your life, that's a country song."

The 19-year-old continues her unprecedented winning streak, including snagging five American Music Awards and four CMA Awards. But the newly crowned AMA Artist of the Year insists all the trophies she's accumulated this year aren't her measure of success. "I think for me the most satisfying thing is going out with my first headlining tour and having every show sell out. That was something that I never dreamed would be so quick to happen," she says. "Putting Madison Square Garden on sale and having it be sold out in 59 seconds. I can't believe that. I'm still completely blown away by that."

The sold-out Fearless tour, which has been extended into 2010, proves to Taylor that dreams do come true. "I thought I was going to do what my parents did. They went to college. They went into business and I loved music, and I never imagined that I would actually get to do that as a job. It's wonderful."

If you go by what Taylor Swift says country music is in that article, then EVERY dang song in the world is country.

Its a lot about sound too, not just lyrics to songs. She doesnt SOUND country at all when she redoes her songs as POP! Thats called selling out. Im sorry, but IMHO, she is NOT a true country artist. And the proof is in the pop award.

She isn't Country even if she didn't remix her songs because they are already Pop songs without the remix. It's not selling out if you were never Country in the first place.

And I guess I'll be nice and not mention what else I think about her.

There are no denying the numbers that she has put up across the board, but Taylor honey you are country by label only.
