    ================================================== ===============

Carrie got a stellar Review for her Opening night of the tour in Jacksonville, so I thought we should start a thread to keep all her Tour reviews together, like we did for the Album reviews. Hope that is ok.

Here is the 1st one! (excellent)

Concert review: Carrie Underwood opens her Storyteller Tour on mammoth stage | jacksonville.com

Concert review: Carrie Underwood opens her Storyteller Tour on mammoth stage

    By Tom Szaroleta Sat, Jan 30, 2016 @ 11:42 pm | updated Sun, Jan 31, 2016 @ 12:35 pm

    Bobby King/Jacksonville.com
Carrie Underwood bought her Storyteller Tour to the Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. Opening the show in front of a packed house were the Swon Brothers and Easton Corbin.

You have to give credit to Carrie Underwood: She refused to be upstaged by her own stage Saturday night at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

On the opening night of her Storyteller Tour, Underwood played for an hour and 45 minutes on a stage that had to be seen to be believed.

Rather than the traditional square stage on one end of the room, Underwood’s was set smack dab in the middle of the floor and stretched nearly from one end of the arena to the other. Parts rose and fell and rotated throughout the evening, to the point that there weren’t many of the evening’s 22 songs where Underwood and her entire eight-piece band were eye to eye. At times, Underwood was the only person on the stage, with the band lowered out of sight while still playing. At other times, she was on one riser, towering over the crowd, while a guitarist or fiddler was on another, clear at the other end of the arena.
Slideshow: Carrie Underwood on stage during The Storyteller Tour at the Arena
Slideshow: Carrie Underwood fans pack the Arena for The Storyteller Tour

The mammoth stage had the effect of providing front-row seats for hundreds of fans, who stood up against the stage’s edge. But it also meant that those who had the best seat in the house for some of the show, with Underwood practically in their lap, had the worst seat for other parts, when she was singing to the crowd on the other side. Fortunately, Underwood rarely stood still, dashing from spot to spot (in high heels!), so no one had to wait long to see her again.
It also meant that the seats that are normally behind the stage were packed, and pretty much nobody in the house had a bad seat.
Lasers and swaying spotlights and fireworks and explosions all added to the spectacle. But make no mistake, Underwood was the star of the show.
Since this was the first night of the tour, she and her band have been in town since the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus moved out of the arena on Sunday, setting up and practicing. She said it was nice to see finally actual people in the seats. “When they told us we were starting off the Storyteller Tour in Jacksonville, I was like, ‘yeah!’”
It was a special day for another reason, Underwood told the crowd. “I didn’t think I could love anything more than being here on this stage. I was wrong, I was very wrong. I had a baby. He took his first steps today, on the first day of my tour, in Jacksonville. I don’t think today could get any better.”

Oh, by the way, she sounded great. Underwood has always had a huge voice, but she’s learned to pick songs that showcase it in ways other than just cutting loose with impossibly long notes. A lot of her best songs are country-rock stompers that let her growl a little, adding a rough edge or a sassy twang to that crystal voice of hers. On songs such as “Undo It,” “Cowboy Cassanova” and “Choctaw County Affair,” it’s easy to forget this is the same singer that just did “Jesus Take the Wheel” and a gorgeous take on “I Will Always Love You” that was a lot more Dolly than Whitney.

That big stage worked against the first opening act, the Swon Brothers. They set up in the middle and played to one end of the arena, with their backs to half the crowd for their whole 20-minute set. For the second opener, Florida’s Easton Corbin, at least the center of the stage slowly rotated so everyone got a good view. But when Corbin worked the remote parts of the stage, the spotlights didn’t always follow him, so at times he was singing from the shadows. But those are just opening night bugs that presumably will get worked out.

I don't understand why they would put Clock Don't Stop on there when it was the first song eliminated in a fav contest and is in the videos with the lowest Storyteller song views on youtube - I really hope they don't release it as a single - put in Relapse , Chaser, Like I'll Never Love You Again for Undo It, CDS and Two Black Cadillacs ...just a wishlist

    Another sold out show :-)

Grateful for for the awesome reviews so far. Keep 'em coming!

From the 2 reviews, their description of Carrie's commanding stage presence.....sounds like what you would expect from someone deserving to be nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

Carrie set Atlanta on fire last nite. She own'd every inch of that HUGE stage & the sold out crowd. EOTY for sure if anyone at ACM's or CMA's would care to attend one of Carries concerts. Anyone who would vote for anyone else needs to have their eyes, ears, brains & heart replaced, they are not human.

From Carrie's response, it sounds like the audience was really awesome in Atlanta.

Glenn, how much time does Carrie spend at the far end of the stage (the opposite end of the mix board)? I have seats at that far end stage that are very close to the floor but I also have tickets in the middle of the arena 19 rows up. I've been waiting till the concerts began to decide which tickets I should give up. Any suggestions?

You might expect something called “The Storyteller Tour” to consist of a stool and an acoustic guitar.
    You would be wrong.
What Carrie Underwood is bringing fans on this so-named tour is a no-expense-spared spectacle that highlights her approachable beauty, her roar of a voice and a substantive set of songs that have commanded the charts since her “American Idol” victory a long decade ago.
Monday’s sold-out concert at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth – where Underwood previously played in December 2012 – was only the second date of a tour that will keep her accumulating Fitbit steps through May.
The in-the-round setup commissioned by Underwood allows for unparalleled vantage points – and even those in the arena’s highest peaks could watch one of four oval video screens situated above each side of the stage.
Rising from beneath the stage atop a lighted tier for the opening “Renegade Runaway,” Underwood looked like a sleek Stevie Nicks in black stiletto boots and a black corset dress.
After some minor microphone feedback during “Renegade,” Underwood settled in vocally, urging crowd participation on the Def Leppard-like stomper “Undo It” and unleashing her best growls and biggest notes during “Good Girl.”
Every song was accompanied by a dazzling visual element, whether it was the sparks-shooting jukebox of “Cowboy Casanova” or the shimmering mirror ball that spun above Underwood’s lighted platform as she crooned “Heartbeat.”

Throughout the show, her eight-piece band, tucked into the stage like pieces in a Trivial Pursuit pie, were raised and lowered on hydraulic platforms, edging in and out of sight as the arena flooded red to match the vaguely sinister vibe of “Two Black Cadillacs” and adding touches of twang and sheen to the sassy chugger, “Dirty Laundry.”
Underwood also demonstrated her robust harmonica skills (did we know about this?) during the swampy “Choctaw County Affair,” no doubt surprising most, if not all, of the audience with her skills.
Underwood has never been a comfortable conversationalist, and for the first half of the 100-minute concert, her songs and the dizzying eye candy carried the production. But by the time she quick-changed into her fourth outfit of the night – a black mini-dress and studded jacket – Underwood was ready to tell some stories.
She shared her admiration of Dolly Parton – “She does it all!” – before uncorking “I Will Always Love You.” Accompanied only by sparse acoustic guitar and standing alone in the circular center of the stage, Underwood nailed the song, technically and emotionally, and showcased not only the power of her voice, but her ability to contain it when necessary.
She also talked about being a mom to “the sweetest little guy,” her nearly 1-year-old son Isaiah with husband Mike Fisher, before tender photos of the young family played while she sang, with noticeably glassy eyes, “What I Never Knew I Always Wanted.”

Fun Carrie returned – with show openers the Swon Brothers and Easton Corbin – for the hoedown “Fishin’ in the Dark,” and Underwood canvassed the catwalks extending from the stage with her “Carrie Cam” during “All American Girl,” a warm exhibition of fan inclusion.
Underwood might be the undeniable darling of country music, but let’s face it, she’s a missing fiddle away from Swift-ian pop stardom, the kind of crossover artist who appeals to multiple generations and musical tastes that straddle pop, rock and country.
But as she readies to turn 33 next month, her contentment with her life is palpable. This tour is her biggest moment yet — let her revel in it.

I'm very happy with how this tour is looking. Tbh I was pretty shocked at how massive it was once I first saw RR being performed. I had no clue all those lights and moving stage parts would be included. I was thinking this was going to be a bit of a low key concert. I'm glad I was wrong. And I actually hope Carrie keeps this format for the future. It's expensive I'm sure but definitely worth it.

In Atlanta she was up & down back & forth all nite long. How she did it & sang song after song & not run out of breathe, she is simply 'SUPER WOMAN' . IMO the best seats are lower level middle on either side of huge stage even 19 rows up. Even with a lift at the end you are speaking of she comes up for 1 song& goes down there many times, I still think dead center middle on either side are best seats to have. Friends had 1 sec over from dead center lower level 7 rows back also great seats. Other friends had Floor seats where not as happy.

    We were awesome! lol!

Carrie had to stop a few times because we were so loud! She was taking it all in and almost started crying on JTTW. She said she could hardly hear herself because we were all singing.
