Carrie Underwood is heading out on tour for The Storyteller Tour – Stories in the Round in January 2016. We’re celebrating her return to the road by taking a look at 10 of the “Smoke Break” singer’s best live performances to date.
10. “Remember When” – The Grand Ole Opry
When Carrie took to the Grand Ole Opry in 2012, she opted to pay homage to the first person she saw in concert, the legend that is Alan Jackson. Carrie effortlessly lent her voice to Alan’s beautiful 2003 ballad, “Remember When”, leaving the crowd teary-eyed.
9. “Paradise City” – CMA Festival
Proving there’s no style she can’t sing, Carrie had the crowd on their feet when she performed the Guns ‘N’ Roses classic “Paradise City” during her stellar set at LP Field for the CMA Festival back in 2013.
8. “Blown Away” Medley – The CMA Awards
Closing out her “Blown Away” era at the 2013 CMA Awards, Carrie effortlessly blended four of her biggest hits, “Good Girl”, “Blown Away”, “Two Black Cadillacs” and “See You Again”, into this jaw-dropping sassy performance.
7. “I Told You So” ft. Randy Travis – American Idol
Carrie returned to her American Idol roots in 2009 with a little help from Randy Travis. Carrie and Randy brought a little country flair to the Fox show with a stunning duet version of “I Told You So” that sent the song skyrocketing into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
6. “Jesus, Take The Wheel” – Walmart Soundcheck
Slowing things down and giving the classic “Jesus, Take The Wheel” a softer spin, the seven-time Grammy winner opted to switch things up for a 2009 session with Walmart Soundcheck in support of her album, Play On.
5. “All Is Well” (with Michael W. Smith) – CMA Country Christmas
Appearing on CMA Country Christmas in 2014, Carrie stunned the world with an incredible performance of the holiday song “All Is Well” with Christian star Michael W. Smith. Even more impressive? She was expecting her first child, Isaiah, at the time.

4. “Fix You” – VH1: Unplugged
3. “Blown Away”/”Two Black Cadillacs” – The Grammy Awards
2. “So Small” – 2007 CMA Awards
1. “How Great Thou Art” (Featuring Vince Gill) – ACM Presents Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country
so not agreeing with #2, if it was the cma songwriters thing ok but not the CMA awards performance. Just no
don't agree with #3 either .That needs to be Everybody Hurts from the Global Citizens concert instead
I have always loved Carrie's rendition of Alone from the FC party in 2007. Just her, Mark on bass, Ed on acoustic guitar and Ashley on fiddle. It sort of exemplified just how good a singer she is, hitting all the notes and emoting while being seated.
Well, I still have to watch every once in a while her iHeart Blown Away album release of Alone. I am in awe of her voice that day. So I would take out one of those and put that in instead. :-) And her Grammy performance of Desperado.
10. The Hills are Alive (SOML) tied with Lonely Goatherd
9. JAD at CMAs
8. Remember When
7. SITW CMAs
6. BA/TBC Grammys
5. Blown Away Medley
4. Paradise City
3. Fix You
2. How Great Thou Art
1. Everybody Hurts
I'd also add Blown Away from 2012 Billboard Awards, bloody brilliant
How in the hell is her "Change" performance from the CNN Honors not on this list?
The HGTA performance is one of the best ever in any genre in the history of music.
Fix You at the Royal Albert Hall beats the VH1 - Unplugged.
How about BHC at the Grammy's?
I Will Always Love You at All for the Hall?
Sweet Child of Mine in concert.
How can this ACM duet not be in there? lol.
or this trio.
I guess the point is that it's too hard to make a list of just 10. : )
^^ Yeah I could easily make a 20 list. hahaha She just has many good ones. The perk of being fan of someone with exceptional voice.
And we didn't even mention her Linda Ronstadt tribute.
STAND BY YOUR MAN... At the GRAND OLD OPRY and DESPERADO at the GRAMMYS... are 2 more that I thought were incredible.. But I have to to tell you whenever I'm down all I have to do is watch the HOW GREAT THOU ARTH performance and I'm instantly back to reality.. I'm with you Jimbo I would stack that performance up against any performance in history..
For me it always goes back to the one that got me hooked for the first time. I told You So live at the Opry. Then there is always the first awards show performance of Jesus Take The Wheel live at the CMAs 2006 when she teared up at the end SO SWEET!!!
