Carrie Underwood’s new song, “Little Toy Guns.”

A “newer” toy gun is now a part of a collection of 13,989 guns in a local museum. The toy gun is on loan by a Tulsa radio station, and is not just any toy gun.

K95.5FM, a country radio station in Tulsa, was one of the many stations across the U.S. to receive a toy gun as part of a promotion for Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood’s new song, “Little Toy Guns,” a song about domestic violence.
Wayne McCombs, Executive Director of the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum, heard about the radio station receiving the toy gun and knew he wanted it.

McCombs said, “Carrie Underwood is a very popular singer from Oklahoma and I thought, ‘Why not add this to the collection?’”

He wanted it so much that he prepared an agreement for K95.5FM to sign and paid them a visit on their morning show. The signed agreement loans the toy gun to the State of Oklahoma.

The toy water gun will be placed in the museum with other donations from Carrie Underwood’s promotional team that will arrive in the near future. An exhibit will showcase the gun as well as the donations.

McCombs said a lot of people do not know that the museum also has toy guns there. “Mr. Davis collected any type of gun. There are rubber band guns, flare guns, flint-action guns and more.”

Matt Bradley of the “Cash & Bradley” morning show at K95.5 said, “The toy gun was sent out two weeks ago to various radio stations as a reminder for DJ’s to play Carrie Underwood’s song, ‘Little Toy Guns.’”

He had no idea their fun would turn into something more serious in Claremore.

“We had two water guns, filled them up with water and were playing with them, shooting each other in the office. It went from being a cheap water gun to being, ‘DO NOT TOUCH THAT GUN’ by Wayne,” Bradley said.

The men have known each other for years. Bradley was excited to put the toy gun into the museum. “It was a very small contribution from us but also a very big deal,” he said.

Written by Underwood, Chris DeStefano and Hillary Lindsey, “Little Toy Guns” is currently number one on the Mediabase country airplay chart.
