Carrie Underwood Thanks American Idol on the 10 Year Anniversary of Her Win : People.com
It was one decade ago today that Carrie Underwood was named the winner of the fourth season of American Idol, and the 10-year anniversary prompted the country singer to get a little nostalgic on Instagram.
"So hard to believe it's been 10 years!" Underwood wrote in her post. "I'm forever grateful to American Idol for changing my life! #blessed."
The caption accompanied a sepia-toned photograph of Underwood on the American Idol stage shortly after she was announced as the winner.
Underwood, 32, beat out finalist Bo Bice to win that season of the show, and she's since become one of the most successful performers to emerge from American Idol, which will enter its final season next year.
Underwood was only 21 when she first auditioned for the judges by singing Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."
Love this exchange in the comment section....
Roimeister • 2 hours ago Does anyone know if Carrie gave all the Idol guys dog tags this past season now that R*ndy is gone?
Incipit Roimeister • an hour ago According to Nick, she gave them all necklaces from Tiffany's. No specifics about if they were Dog Tags.
Roimeister Incipit • 32 minutes ago it really is one of the things that makes her special to me... not her voice... her heart...
Imagine being on the show ... and a gift from "Carrie" arrives... it's like.. yea.. she was in this exact position of being a scared ****less unknown contestant... and look at her now... and yet, she's still one of us...

Congrats on the 10 year Anniversary. I like Carrie humility. I had no idea about nice stuff and charities she did until I looked it up and came here.
I love Carrie's gratitude towards American Idol. She is still so humble. I admire her for that. Congrats Carrie on an incredible 10 years. So proud to call myself a Carrie fan. :-)

Wow. It's been 10 years. I feel so old right now.
I remember text voting like crazy for Carrie. My mom and I cried when she won. We were at my apartment, packing up for me to move to another apartment and my mom spent the night with me. It's been amazing to be a fan of hers for the last 10 years and I look forward to the next 10!
I start watching Idol the night that she sang Alone, I didn't even know that Idol exist at the time, so I watch Carrie singing Alone and became a fan till she won. Then I didn't know anything about her till I see her again in the AMA's in 2006 when she sang the medley (JTTW, DFTRM and BHC) and from that day I become a "official" fan of her!
I was 15 years old and right after that performance I remember that I run to the computer and downloaded Some Hearts (album) lol , good memories.
I don't remember seeing Carrie's audition live, but she had me the second she sang "Could've Been" by Tiffany. I loved that song and I loved Carrie singing it. I just wish that way back then you could have purchased the full studio length tracks of the performances on iTunes like you can now.
I know that "Inside your heaven" is considered one of the worst coronation songs ever on Idol but I really love it because it always reminds me of how happy I felt the night she won.
^^I was so happy that night too! And seeing her sing it (and watching that video) she was so happy, such great memories!
I still have a stack of tapes! I think I taped every thing she did for several years!! Isn't it amazing how one little person can bring so much happiness and joy...to so many!!
It was indeed a very happy and memorable night. I also recorded her performance that night. I still watch her AI journey every now and then and actually I did watch them today and they always bring a smile and pride in me. She was so sweet and humble and still is today. What a journey.
I need to find my DVD of her Idol performances. I ordered all three of her pre-Idol albums from Ebay and the person I bought them from also threw in a DVD with every Idol performance (no commentary, just the actual performances). The quality was not great, but at least I have them all in one place. Just need to find it, lol.
