    Carrie Underwood's Calia by Carrie

Underwood joins country artists with fashion line

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Carrie Underwood donned more than 10 different dresses for this year's CMA Awards, but when it's time to get to sweaty in the gym, the country star was at a loss for what to wear."I consider myself to be a pretty hard worker in the gym," said Underwood, who is expecting her first child in the spring. "The high performance things aren't pretty. And then the super pretty things don't last a long time or don't do what I need them to do. So there is a big gap."
Now she's launching her own line of athletic wear with DICK'S Sporting Goods, called Calia by Carrie Underwood, which matches up her love of fashion and fitness. Underwood's new venture makes her the latest country musician to dabble in fashion.
Her CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley partnered with Boot Barn this month to release a line of clothes called Moonshine Spirit, featuring jeans, boots, cowboy hats and T-shirts for young men, which he describes as the perfect outfit for attending a country concert.
"When you look out at these people when we roll into town, they are largely girls in cut-off jeans and guys in either button-down plaid shirts or T-shirts," Paisley said. "Some of them are wearing cowboy hats. Some of them are wearing ball caps. A lot of them are wearing some kind of boot."
Fashion for country musicians has moved far away from the country western wear personified by Porter Wagoner's embellished Nudie suits and Dolly Parton's rhinestone-encrusted denim and fringe. Today's biggest country stars embrace retailers and brands that are already well-known to middle-class America and are far more accessible to their fans.
For example, reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan has a clothing line at Cabela's, a major outdoors sporting goods retailer, and Miranda Lambert released a line of cowboy boots with DSW, in addition to owning a country clothing boutique in her home of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
Underwood's athletic wear, which will be available in March 2015, features capris and pants that will average $60 to $85 and tops that average $30 to $35 and can be easily mixed and matched.
"Everything pretty much matches each other, which is something that I think is really cool because if you don't have a lot of money to spend on things like this, it all needs to look good together," Underwood said.
Underwood said her focus was outfitting today's busy woman, who is juggling her career, her family and friends and her active lifestyle.
"That's who we make music for, that's who we sell our records to," Underwood said. "I don't think it makes sense to put out things that they couldn't go out and get."
Paisley already knew his signature white cowboy hat was a fan favorite, because he's been handing them out to a special fan at each one of his concerts. They're so popular sometimes eager fans will snatch it right off his head when he's performing. But now these hats will be available at Boot Barn stores across the country and he even offered a little advice on how to shape the brim.
"That's the thing that I hope everybody realizes when they buy this, you gotta shape it to your face," he said. "I've figured out over time what shape worked with my face. And if you want to see which ones don't, you go back to the early 2000s and that shape doesn't work with my face."

Really smart advertising as well. IT tagets someone who is serious about their health and fitness. It is not marketed as a gimmicky girly frew frew line of clothes to "pose at the gym in".

Also, based on how I know commericals are made, that commercial shoot must have been brutal!!! Our girl is in serious shape......

First off, Carrie looks stunning in the video! I love when she goes a little lighter on the make up because she is such a natural beauty and it makes her look so much younger. I love the name Calia and it's meaning and the clothing line really does seem like it's a perfect fit for Carrie because she is such an active woman. That being said, I wish the apparel was a little more affordable. $60-$85 for one pair of capris is way out of my price range. I don't think I will buy any of the products because of the high pricing, but I sure love that Carrie is becoming more of a business women with all her outside of music endeavors.

So excited about this! And Dicks is a major clothing store for athletic wear so this is a huge deal! So glad she hooked up with Dicks and not a cheapy store. Everyone trusts Dicks for high quality athletic wear!

Cannot wait to go jogging in her line!

if perfection has its manifestation on earth, she would be it!

I really like how she thinks! She is really a smart girl who does things with a good reason, and with a good target! And her team on this is amazing too! The name, the motto, the concept, the idea, the commercial, the website, the color scheme of the images and videos, just.... PERFECT!

and Carrie looks AMAZING! She just captures my heart every time! I hope more girls will be inspired by her especially in taking health and fitness seriously... She's just AWESOME!

That's a bit disappointing. I understand you pay for quality. But Carrie has always been extremely smart about pricing her product. That's why she keeps her concert tickets so reasonable because she knows the average middle class is buying. So I may or may not be buying now. I don't have that kind of money. And I'm not sure my husband will think it will be worth it. I may buy one pair of my favorite. But that's gonna be it. Sad day.

I usually get my fitness apparel at TJ Maxx. The great thing is you can get items that originally retailed for $80-$90 at a discounted price of $15-$20. So hopefully the Calia brand will make it to the TJ Maxx and Marshall stores and become more affordable for everyone.

Maybe! Good idea. But if it's not possible, I'll just wait until they become discounted. It shouldn't take too long hopefully.

I now how you feel but she can't get it any cheaper because she is going for quality and at same time practicality. It is actually multi purpose where you can wear them all day and anywhere casuals. Cheap clothing does not last long after a few washes. They are actually cheaper than Lulu lemon. Maybe friends, family or relatives can gift then to you and buy one at a time. I really think they are worth it.

Well, we have different financial status'. If it's out of your price range, it's out of your price range. Don't feel bad. I think $65-$80 for a pair of capris is too expensive for most middle class Americans. I actually work at a fitness center and we have a lot of people that come in wearing Lulu Lemon pants ranging from $80-$100. The personal trainers tell me all the time that the over pricing of fitness apparel is a shame. There really is no difference in the work out other than the label. If you can afford Calia, by all means go out and support our girl! But if not, don't feel bad that it's not in your finances. Just go out and buy more OPI nail polish like a plan to!
