Carrie to perform at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Global superstar Carrie Underwood will join in on the festivities at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with a special performance with the cast of "The Sound Of Music." The 30-year-old will perform during the show's first hour.
Kellie Pickler, Florida Georgia Line, Brett Eldredge, Kristin Chenoweth and the cast of A&E's "Duck Dynasty" round out the country-related performers. In its 87th year, the traditional holiday delight is set for Thursday, Nov. 28 at 9 a.m. in New York City. More than 8,000 participants are set to march through the streets to help ring in the season to "Let's Have a Parade."

    Love It!!!!!

And yet I still don't think she should win a Country Music Award for it.

So no one else should win a County Award for projects that are not country!!

I'll disagree with you slightly. All the extra curricular activities that are not country related do give
the genre extra press and as such, contributes to its notoriety and growth.

And I 100% agree with you. And as "others" are given credit for being ambassadors to country so should Carrie.

But if a line is being drawn and Carries extra curricular activities "are not" being taken into consideration by voters, than so be it. What she "has" accomplished with in the genre is still worth everything.

But what she has accomplished all combined is simply amazing.

So if she is seen as a country aritst, then she has done everything she should have to do to be recognized as one of the best and most successful.

But if she is looked at as a Star for all her accomplishments, then there is simply No one who really compares except Taylor.

(I am just pointing to the bias between seeing everything that Carrie has accomplished "from with in" adn "as a whole", no matter what the marker is, Its remarkable.

And the industry still does not wish to call her An Entertainer!

I like "Duck Dynasty" and the Robertson family but my goodness they are everywhere.

EOTY is really supposed to encompass all areas of entertaining, so if Blake can be nominated for being a Voice judge or Reba can win for being a tv/movie/Broadway start in addition to touring, then Carrie's gigs for SNF and SOM should also be considered.

The press releases says "appearance". I haven't seen anything that confirms they are performing.

NBC would be really dropping the ball if they didn't make it a short performance.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has become more about "performance slots" for current or new broadway shows that are being promoted.

I could see it going either way with Carrie. I could see it being a full blown performace slot (which would take alot more rehersal than some of you might think. OR I could see it as her and the cast just being on a float as adversizing for the show coming up.

If I were to bet on what Carrie wants, I would suggest she is only going to be "promoting the show" by being on a float, or even in a car.
But I could see NBC wanting a full blown performance which I actually think is a bit unnecessary and will add to rehersals and stress quite a bit.

A full performance slot is usually quite involved with a lot of extras and choreography, a sound system to adapt to (or worse, lipsyncing that could get flubbed).

No, I could see her being a big enough star to say, I will show up and wave but I don't want to learn an entire one-off number just for promo.

Even as I think about it, it could also be a "pretaped" number from the show that will be edited into the telecast.

    Who knows.

press release sounds to me like it's a performance ( I imagine just lip synching from a float like last time) w/other cast members. Most likely the kids.

The first 90 seconds of "Do-Re-Mi" would be a great promo for the show.

If I remember from watching the parade, they have a place where people from different shows perform. So, I am assuming that the cast of TSOM will be there singing some songs. It says the cast, so I think they will do a song that involves several different people, not just Carrie (maybe the kids singing something).

YES, Carrie is back on the Macy's parade.

The difference between her last appearance and this year is:

Then, Carrie needed the Macy's parade to promote her new musical career, but now, the Macy's Parade need her for the TV ratings...ha..ha..ha..

Neil tweeted that Audra and Laura will be with Carrie in the parade- but he did not mention Stephen Moyer oddly. He has been kind of MIA in terms of press for this. Maybe he is busy with other stuff.

So than it seems likely they will not sing. There is nothing they sing together at all.
