Carrie Underwood Donates $1 Million To Red Cross For Disaster Relief [Merged]

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Caption Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood is giving back in a big way by making a major donation.

On Thursday, she revealed she is donating $1 million to the Red Cross for disaster relief.
“I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness,” Carrie said in a statement. “With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados.”

The money comes from the proceeds of Carrie’s concert tour – the “Blown Away Tour” – per her rep.
A rep for the Red Cross said Carrie’s donation will go far.

“The impact of the tornados in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families. Through the generosity of Carrie, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now, and with lasting help as they move toward recovery,” Neal Litvack, chief development officer for the Red Cross, said in a statement.

This may sound crazy, but I feel like this was 'meant to be'.

It's so profound that a tour anchored by the concept of a tornado (in Oklahoma no less), can now give such a huge amount of money to those affected by the tragedy this week. Knowing Carrie's faith is so strong, I can't help but feel as though it was God acting through her 9 months ago when she decided to donate $1 from every ticket sold to the Red Cross.

Once again, Carrie's showing the world just how generous she really is.

Very nice of Carrie to do, if they don't have something else already scheduled Blake should get his fellow The Voice judges to come join him.

If there wasn't a God, there wouldn't be a Carrie. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

I agree!!! Kudos to Carrie - serving God and helping people. GOD WILL BE VERY PROUD of our beloved Carrie!!! Since Carrie's "Jesus Take The Wheel" as HER LEAD SINGLE - I am a prayer warrior, and this taught me the POWER OF PRAYER and the importance of FAITH. I've seen A LOT OF ANSWERS to MY PRAYERS through difficult situations. I've seen how God is always by my side and that He does have a plan - and it is BIGGER THAN I WOULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED. I always carry Jesus with me, NOT TAKING MY EYES OFF JESUS cause I know ....... I will "SEE YOU AGAIN", Jesus.

Especially since people paid that extra $1 to see her, not really to donate. Also, since the attendance figures in the US was just over 700,000, she contributed an additional 300,000 (approx.).

Crazy to think that this was all in addition to the proceeds she donated from Atlantic City and Iowa shows and in addition to her donation to the Diabetes foundation. We don't even know where else she's been donating this year.

I know she and Mike donated a music room, for some disadvantaged kids in Nashville. Lord knows what else!
