A lot of sound, glitter and Carrie Underwood

I'm not sure what concert this guy was at, but Carrie was all I could hear and her band didn't really overpower her at all...either way it was an amazing night and I had so much fun. I enjoyed it more than the PO Tour. I went with some people from work who absolutely loved it too.
It took Carrie Underwood's band all night to finally step back and let her sing.
Underwood's last two songs, “I Know You Won't” and “Blown Away,” finally let her vocals shine through.
The country superstar performed for almost two hours to a near-sellout crowd — more than 13,000 people — at one of the last shows of her Blown Away Tour on Sunday at the CenturyLink Center
Her eight-member band is a talented bunch, but they often blew away Underwood's vocals. Her voice is big-time, and it erupts with power. She could easily carry any song by herself, but the eight-member band often drowned her out with way too many guitars, banjo notes and backing vocals (which she doesn't need).

Nice picture! Tx! I think some critics hate loud bands but no worries. At least he liked Carries voice.

Omaha. I love the band but sometimes the sound mixer needs help.

Not much the sound man can do sometimes.

Large arenas are built to seat a lot of people, not for acoustics. Some arenas are worse than others. If you're sitting in a bad place you can get "cross echo" and "double echo" effects. Not only do you hear the sound directly from the stage, you get it from the left wall, the right wall, and sometimes from left to right and back again. The lower sounds (bass and drums) don't have to vibrate the air and your eardrums nearly as fast as the higher sounds of Carrie's voice so they are much more prominent in your hearing and tend to drown out Carrie as they multiply and reverberate through the arena. Not to mention the crowd noise. Have you ever noticed that an audio "cap" of a televised musical event sounds better than the live tv or radio broadcast? That's because the filters in the digital recording programs screen out all that excess "clatter".

YES, it depends on the Arena. Sometimes, in some arenas, the sound of the band sounded like "TRAP" in the building.
