    TV Line: Grammys 2013

Grammys 2013: Grades for All 20 Performances!

    BY MICHAEL SLEZAK

    Carrie Underwood

    “Blown Away”/”Two Black Cadillacs”

Whether or not you were gasping or scratching your head at the images projected onto the country songbird’s dress — I’m in the former camp (ooh! butterflies!) — I’d wager Underwood’s clear and present vocal about a widow and a mistress attending their man’s funeral couldn’t have been any more dramatic.Grade: A-

The 2013 Grammy Awards: Best and Worst

    BY ANDY PATRICK

    Best Special Effect: Carrie Underwood

Powerful as her voice is, she was upstaged on “Two Black Cadillacs” by her own dress: a gray princess gown on which one eye-popping design after another was projected. Wowza!

I love to see someone actually appreciate her performance. I saw too many where they trashed her performance, so thank you for posting this! Made my day!

I think people trashed it because of the dress, at least the ones I read. I gotta be honest I wasn't that crazy about that dress and I thought it would suit ACM better but her vocals were just amazing, out of this world, one of the best she delivered. In the end they are gonna rate the performance as a whole so even if the vocals were superb the dress will push it lower for those who didn't like it.

She can not win tho......had she not gone with the dress, and tried to let her powerful vocals stand alone, she would have been trashed. The only reason Kelly's beautiful performance was able to stand alone is because it was a tribute and the music is from the past. The current music is meant to be staged and and I loved the dress and saw it as innovtuve and cretive. Glad to see it appreciated by some.

Yeah, too many of them were about the dress rather than the vocals. Had they been all about the vocals, there is no question she would have scored A's across the board.
