The Awards Psychic: 2013 Grammy Awards Predictions

    Best Country Solo Performance
Will Win/Should Win - Carrie Underwood "Blown Away"
Could Win - Blake Shelton "Over" or Eric Church "Springsteen"
Commentary - The great Tom O'Neil at GoldDerby has a theory about awards shows, and that is that sometimes the winner turns out to be the apple in a basket of oranges. For example, Marisa Tomei in 1992 over four British actresses. In this case, all of that testosterone versus Carrie Underwood. While both of Church's and Shelton's efforts are distinct possibilities. I think that they will go for the apple (Carrie) in the basket of oranges (the men in the group). Plus, she is a Grammy favorite and the abum/song was a hit.

    Best Country Song
Will Win - Eric Church "Springsteen"
Could Win/Should Win - Carrie Underwood "Blown Away"
Commentary - While I feel that Carrie Underwood's Blown Away will be a popular choice in the Performance category, I think that voters will respect the songwriting aspect of Eric Church's Springsteen more. Although it could go either way.

    Best Country Album
Will Win - Miranda Lambert "Four the Record"
Should Win - Zac Brown Band "Uncaged"
Could Win - ZBB or Hunter Hayes "Hunter Hayes"
Commentary - In the last couple of years, there has been a disconnect among categories within genres that used to match up relatively well. I'm not neccessarily disappointed, because variety is the spice of life. But it does make it harder to predict the winners. While my pick would be Zac Brown Band's Uncaged, I think that Lambert's effort will be more popular among industry vets.

    Best Country Duo/Group Performance
Will Win - Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars "Safe and Sound"
Could Win - Little Big Town "Pontoon" or Don Williams and Alison Krauss "I Just Come Here For the Music"
Should Win - Don Williams and Alison Krauss "I Just Come Here for the Music"
    Commentary
    - Little Big Town has never won a Grammy, which may be a signal for voters to give them a nod. My personal pick would be the tune from Don Williams and Alison Kraus, and while her total 27 Grammy wins (which has made her the most honored female artist in Grammy history) may seem excessive to us, it clearly is not to Gramny voters who love her (and for good reason!). But my money is on the power of Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars for their song Safe and Sound which has several nominations, and could clean up come Grammy night.

    My thoughts:
I absolutely agree with Country Solo performance prediction. But I won't include Blake Shelton's OVER in "Could Win" list. I love his "APPLE VS ORANGES" theory. LOL
For Country Song, same here. It's either Springsteen or BLOWN AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY (you know which I prefer most)
I hope Pontoon wins Duo/Group Performance, but based on Grammy past history, Taylor has a shot for this. Boo
Country Album, a category which I don't really care. LOL

I think for vocal Blown Away's biggest competition is Wanted and Springsteen, for song I have a feeling Springsteen will win. It's nice to see people actually project Carrie to win. I think she has a real shot.

I hope Carrie wins, of course.
For album, I would love to see ZBB win. They deserve the recognition as they are incredibly talented and it's a great album, imo.

But it does mean that the Blown Away Album will be winning multi Grammys!
I of course would love for the song to win. But I really care about her voice being recognized.
Which is what I think will happen.
(Don't tell anyone, but the song Blown Away is not the most well-writen song of the year by any means).

No, but it is a really well written song that deserves to be recognized. But of course there are better songs.
