Carrie has been on the top of that list almost from the starting gate. This is the first year she is not #1, but for a year where she was basically out of the limelight I'd say 5M is darn good. I too wonder where they get their figures. Kellie P. has been basically on hiatus for a long time but pulls in a respectable 1M...how do you figure?

Didn't Carrie release BA on May1, 2012? If so, wasn't Carrie off for most if not all of the eligibility period?

Carrie was off all of 2011 and part of 2012 in terms of touring, so these lower numbers are not surprising. Since May 1 2011- May1 2012 is the eligible period, I am actually relieved that they put her at $5 million on such a quiet year. I wonder how she even earned that much since she took off all of 2011 to work on her new album, and the first half of 2012 was spent promoting GG.

Her album was not released until May 1, 2012, and her tour did not start until September 2012-- so she had no tour revenue or BA album sales to factor in.

Next year-- her numbers will be HUGE. I predict at least $20 million again due to her tour and album sales.

Also, she will be paid a nice chunk of change from Sound of Music so Forbes needs to add that in too next year.

She didn't just not tour-- she did not release an album in May 2011- May 2012, the eligibility period. She was on her hiatus then to work on BA. So she did not tour, did not have a new album out, and did not do much to earn alot of revenue in that period since she was hard at work on the album.

Her numbers are better then I expected given that they counted May 2011-May 2012, the period she was off the radar.

Next year's list is going to be such a joke if it's using the same eligibility period. Based off their prior lists, Carrie would have to be at ~30 million or so. The others are going to be so far behind.

Yes, I'm excited to see next year's numbers! And I'm shocked by Daughtry's showing, too, considering their disappointing album sales last time around.

And I'm shocked Carrie is tied with Chris Daughtry; didn't their last album flop pretty hard?
their last album, Break the Spell, has been certified Gold, so it wasn't a huge flop by any means but compared to their first two albums, which the first one is 4x platinum and their second one was certified platinum, it's not getting up there but it's a pretty good album and from what others said already he was on a big tour with Nickelback

From what I remember Carrie has always been at the top of the list. This is the first time I've seen her at #2.
