Carrie Underwood Likes Gory Horro Flicks: The Tennessean

Carrie Underwood likes ‘gory’ horror flicks, says Mike Fisher | Tune In Music City | The Tennessean
Think Carrie Underwood is tougher than her hockey-player hubby, Mike Fisher?
    She might be.
Mike, a star of the Nashville Predators, was at the premiere of the scary thriller “After” in Cool Springs Sunday night.
And Mike said Carrie is way better at horror movies than he is.
“She grew up on horror movies, believe it or not,” Mike said. “She likes as gory as it gets, and all that stuff.
“She never covers her eyes. That would be me.”
Mike and his head coach, Barry Trotz, were among several celebs at the screening Sunday of the new movie by Middle Tennessee filmmaker Ryan Smith, son of Christian artist Michael W. Smith. And yes, Smitty, his son’s partner in Seabourne Pictures, was there.
Also on hand was Tennessee Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who — despite the Titans’ loss in the season opener to the New England Patriots earlier in the day — was pretty pumped up.
“My [7-year-old] son’s gonna be totally excited that Mike Fisher’s here at the movie,” Matt said outside the premiere.
“[He] has his jersey, his poster, an autographed puck, a hockey stick. That’ll be the highlight of the night for my kids, even though they’re not here.”
“After” — starring Karolina Wydra, the green-card wife on TV series “House” — opens Friday in several cities, including Nashville.
For more on the movie, see Friday’s The Ticket inside The Tennessean.
    — Brad Schmitt, for The Tennessean

I'm fine until the guy starts sticking a screwdriver in his eyeball. Then my tolerance level has been reached.

Someone should make a cartoon of a day in the life of Carrie and Mike. Imagine cartoon Carrie staring and smiling at a man getting impaled and Mike crying and burying his face in his hands.

Horror flicks are on thing, but I made the mistake of watching Saw 1 and Hostile - no way. That is just torture porn.

I don't like gore...Not that it bothers me or makes me squeamish...More like it just bores me.

I am obsessed with horror films, though, they're pretty much the only ones I watch. But the scares should come from more than sudden noises and blood everywhere.

Agreed. I used to like gore (though I've always preferred psychological thrillers), but after watching the atrocity that is Hostel 2, I've been done with films like those.

Pulse is the most underrated horror movie of all-time. It's my favorite, and it never gets mentioned.

I love horror and thrillers, but not for the gore. I like the suspense, and I prefer a plot if possible. lol

Friday the 13th got so funny in the end of the last sequel...as you started to just guess all the ways Jason would kill people...but there was no real plot. lol

I really liked the Danielle Radcliffe thriller "The Woman in Black" beause it wasn't about the gore. It actually had a mystery and a plot.

Anyone seen the Entity? it's an older movie with Barbara Hershey. I'm not sure I'd call it horror because I never had to look away from the screen in fear (and I'm a baby with horror movies) but it's paranormal so it's in the horror genre. what's happening in the movie though is EXTREMELY disturbing (but not in the gory sense). it's also probably the best made case for a horror movie for the whole "based on a true story" thing. often time, that premise is used to tell tickets. however, there is alot of research and interviews done on this woman and her family. one of her kids did in interview years later as an adult, he made no money off the interview, backing up the whole thing. I love how this is turning into a scary movie discussion haha

Has anyone seen the Thai version of Shutter? I'm not sure if that movie is necessarily scary, but it's absolutely genius. The ending is one of my favorite movie moments ever.

Okay, it IS really creepy, and it's supposed to be a horror movie, but for some reason, when I watch movies in a different language, the suspense lacks because I don't feel like I'm in the movie.

And now I kinda wanna watch Entity and Woman in Black as I've never seen those.
