Loretta Lynn Talks Possible Collaborations w/ MH & AJ; Shows Love for CU

Loretta Lynn has revealed plans to collaborate with fellow Country Music Hall of Fame member Merle Haggard on a new project.

“He hasn’t lost one note of his voice,” Loretta tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I want to record a song with him that he wrote, ‘Today I Started Loving You Again.’”

Loretta adds that she’d love to work with Alan Jackson someday, saying, “I do love him.”

As for today’s country artists that she loves to listen to, Loretta name checks Carrie Underwood saying, “I think she is one of the best girl singers today. She can sing anything.”

Loretta may be joining Carrie on the country airwaves soon. Loretta admits she wants to have more hits on the radio. She says, “No one says anything anymore [in songs]. They need me out there.”

I read this many times and think that the writer was just saying Loretta will just be on the radio. Not doing a duet with Carrie.

Loretta's right. No one says anything anymore lol. While that isn't necessarily true as a blanket statement for all of country music right, it is pretty accurate for most of it. Loretta needs to record new material and show the new generation how it's done . She never has been one to shy away from tough subjects.

I would love Loretta to do some work with Carrie in the future.

I got the Loretta Christmas album for a secret Santa gift last year, and I am so in love with it. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO country and southern, that it is charming. It is not grating in a twangy redneck way-- but truly the work of a true strong Southern lady. Her voice to me is very soothing and her tone is pretty.

Every time I watch Coal Miner's Daughter, I fall in love with her again. She is such a strong awesome lady.

It's nice to see such an established, respected artist give Carrie the kudos she deserves.

Oooh, you were so fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Conway and Dottie West --it was sad what happened to Dottie West.

It must make Carrie feel so good to know that she isl liked and respected by some real established female country icons. What a thrill it must be knowing she set the standard for female vocalists. Awesome!

She died in a car accident in her late fifties. She was on the way to the Opry when it happened.
