Carrie Underwood's husband signs contract extension with Nashville Predators

A nice bit of news comes today at the Town Hall as the Nashville Predators have locked up center Mike Fisher for 2 more years for a total of $8.4 million. Together with the year remaining on his current deal, this keeps Fisher with Nashville through 2014-2015. The guy has fit like a glove with this team since coming over from Ottawa in a February 2011 trade, and serves well both as an on- and off-ice leader for the Preds.

First thing that came to my mind after reading this article this morning was "Good, now they'll be able to actually start and finish and LIVE IN the place they want to build on their new property!"

Predators Sign Mike Fisher to 2-Year Contract - Nashville Predators - News

Mike ONCE DOUBTED that he will be able to play again at the National Hockey League after a SERIOUS INJURY while playing at the NHL when he was nineteen years old. Ultimately the CHALLENGES - both good and bad, hard and exciting - did not upset Mike's FAITH in the God of all things. THROUGH THE STORM God remains the anchor in his life. According to his book, "Defender of Faith".

Mike Fisher 12:12 - Romans 12:12, "Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful." WHEN THE RIGHT TIME COMES, BLESSINGS WILL COME. How else could we explain Mike's BLESSINGS in life?

It's good that he's doing good with the team! Hopefully he does end up retiring there whenever he wants to.

    He is 32.

How much longer can he play would depend on several things such as health, does he want to play, are there little Fisher's by 2015, etc..

He could, but with all the injuries he has had in his career I don't know if he would play for another eight years.

As Mike mentioned in his book, "Defender of Faith" - "You never do know what the good Lord has in store for us. Mike's POWER COMES from the "ABOVE" - he puts his FAITH IN CHRIST FIRST and has demonstrated his LOVE FOR GOD both ON and OFF the ice." Based on the TREND in his life - I STRONGLY BELIEVE that Mike will play at the NHL at a MINIMUM of forty years old. "Carrie and Mike" aspire to create something BIGGER and MORE LASTING THAN THEMSELVES - with an ongoing CAREER and ROOTED their CAREER AND lives in a set of TIMELESS CORE VALUES, that they exist FOR A PURPOSE BEYOND JUST MAKING MONEY. Implicit on every page of their "CAREER and LIVES" is a SIMPLE QUESTION : "Why on earth would they settle for creating SOMETHING MEDIOCRE that does little more than make money, when "Carrie and Mike" CAN CREATE SOMETHING OUTSTANDING that is WORTHY OF LASTING? And in the end, THOSE who make something worthy of lasting MAKE MORE MONEY "OVER THE LONG RUN", anyway!!!

That's probably very true. It also depends on if Nashville still thinks he is still productive enough to be worth his asking price. There are guys that play into their forties but all professional sports are a young persons game. One of the sports radio shows interviewed Mike just before his contract was announced and he commented that he didn't know how much longer he would play. (He was playing coy a little bit because they hadnt made the announcement yet) There was also some discussion among sports fans that he could have gotten a longer contract if he had pushed for it. My guess is that he's thinking he'll retire around 35 but you never know. He has dealt with a lot of injuries. He commented in that radio interview that he had a hand issue that he had worked on over the summer.

I also think his decision will depend on kids because with Carrie's career, he's going to need to put in the kid time if he wants Carrie to have 7 children. lol.
