Top 40 Country Songs of August 2012

Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw and Eric Church all make strong debuts on the Top 40 Country Songs list for August, but none of their singles were good enough to take down a song that ranked No. 2 on the July 2012 list. Aldean comes closest, with ‘Take a Little Ride’ making a Top 5 debut this month.

Our Top 40 Country Songs list is full of country newcomers, with Lauren Alaina‘s new single ‘Eighteen Inches’ debuting at No. 39 following multiple wins on the Taste of Country Showdown. Brantley Gilbert also cracks the Top 40 with his new song ‘Kick It In t the Sticks,’ and Luke Bryan‘s new single lands at No. 35. Also look for hits from Blake Shelton, Chris Young, Jana Kramer and Love and Theft amongst the hottest songs in country music.

The list of the Top 40 Country Songs is compiled from Billboard chart data and sales figures, in addition to staff opinion and reader feedback. If there is a song you feel should have made the Top 40, tell us why in the comments section below.

So, Carrie gets her ass chewed by critics, and "fans" for GG being so much like CC?

News flash people, "Take a Little Ride" is another "My Kinda Party", but everyone just thinks its the best shi* ever.

Other then Carrie, and a select few, country music is complete crap. Just sayin'.

H Hayes has a legitimate hit for himself. Great.
Also really happy for LBT. Well deserved love.

Yeah, It is rediculous to hear these songs by guys that are the exact same thing over and over and over, and everyone talks about them like they are the greatest thing.
    It's kind of funny.

God forbid, anyone to actually have decent taste in music..

Here's who I believe should actually be on that list.

    1. Blown Away (duh)
    2. Pontoon (it's different & catchy)
    3. For You (different from his other music)
    4. Wanted (Dude has some talent)
    5. Glass (very well written song)
    6. Postcard From Paris
    7. That's Why I Pray (this is one of those reality check songs)
    8. Lovin' You is Fun (no, it's nothing amazing, but he's another VERY talented artist)
    9. 18 Inches (very heartfelt true to life song)

    That's it for me.

I agree with your complete list except for #6 - I just can't care much for this song.

I am with you but shocked at your choice for #7! Ha Ha.
I find him to be terribly cliche and insincere.
His arrogance and sexism make it very difficult for me to believe him when he tries to sing something of substance.
It just sounds like pandering for sales to me.
("Just say something about God / The Bible / Jesus / or Church on Sunday" and your being sincere"),
    I Don't Think So!

It's not my favorite from them but the group has INCREDIBLE writing talent, especially Kimberly.

Haha, I literally know nothing of Big&Rich, I just liked the song itself.

I like the top 10 there, all are good songs, even though I would have loved to have seen Blown Away higher

Whoa. Really? It's one of my favorites from the album.

I'm upset Independence won't see a release, though. And Double Heart. Those (with IIDY) are my top 3 from the album.
