Ann, you should post this over at the FC. I'm sure Carrie would love to see this as she doesn't realize how many fans she has all over the world.

It's a sad reality that we have great singers here but not many original songs released by them. Remakes have brought our music industry down over the years.
Again, I discussed this with my Filipino-American friend and is also my neighbor. She said, those were the days, when Nonoy Zuniga, Basil Valdez, Apo Hiking Society, Freddie Aguilar, Florante, Cinderella, etc. were dominating the Philippine radio air wave, AND, at the same time, Eagles, Queen, Journey, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson (a lot longer time for Michael Jackson, though), etc. were dominating the Philippine radio air wave and the ENTERTAINMENT SECTION of the leading newspapers in the Philippines. She thought, they were UNTOUCHABLES! But, no matter how very charistmatic and very popular you are, YOU WILL FADE in an "EVER CHANGING MUSIC MARKET ENVIRONMENT". Carrie has a UNIQUE APPROACH and CONCEPTS - "stimulate change and PROGRESS" - and Carrie already stands "the test of time" by VIRTUE to continually renew herself. CARRIE IS LIKE a skilled and a PROLIFIC "inventor" and evolved into a "COLLECTION OF HEALTHY BRANCHES" - "well positioned TO PROSPER in an *EVER CHANGING COUNTRY MUSIC MARKET ENVIRONMENT*". And yes, this critic is a veteran and a well respected reviewer in the Philippine Entertainment Industry (according to my Filipino-American friend). This is GREAT FOR CARRIE because some "few critics" in the United States have DOUBLE-STANDARD "AGAINST CARRIE". When you read the concert reviews of the CRITICS in the United Kingdon and Australia (Carrie has a SUPERB review of her Play On Tour in U.S., though, except a very few critics who has an AGENDA against Carrie) and this album review from Baby Gil - Carrie's CONCEPTS are really working in an EXCELLENT WAY and Carrie will continue TO STAND "THE TEST OF TIME"!!!

    AWESOME!!!

Carrie applied her KEY concepts to the fundamental human issues of "HER OWN SELF-IDENTITY and HER OWN SELF-RENEWAL". "Who am I? What do I stand for? What is my purpose? HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY SENSE OF "SELF" in this "ever changing country music environment" (what "Carrieflatssfan" was always trying to point out in her post). How do I infuse meaning into MY LIFE, MY CAREER and COUNTRY MUSIC COMMUNITY? HOW DO I REMAIN RENEWED, ENGAGED and STIMULATED? ...... These questions were answered by Carrie in the KEY CONCEPTS that she is using as a COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTAR. ....... The only TRULY RELIABLE SOURCE OF STABILITY is a strong INNER CORE and the "WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE AND PROGRESS AND *ADAPT EVERYTHING EXCEPT THAT CORE*" - CARRIE's PRIORITY IS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND "WHO SHE IS", "than", "WHERE SHE IS GOING" - for where is CARRIE'S MUSIC IS GOING "will almost certainly change".

Awesome review about an awesome album. After all this time that the album has been out I'm still as fascinated as the first listening. You just keep "hearing" new things from it. The songs are masterpieces. This reviewer loved the songs I love the most, though I understand why they aren't as popular with others. We always tend to grab hold of the ones that talk to us the most and its okay that others favor other songs more as there isn't a bad song on the cd. I guess thats why I won't be disappointed by what turns out to be the singles. It will be fun to watch this cd evolve as the singles are put out there. Carrie has always worked hard to put out a cd that would have songs for everyone - she never disappoints. This review shows her popuilarity just keeps spreading! Awesome! Thanks for posting Ann!

I also discussed this with my Filipino-American friend, who was ONCE a die-hard FAN of "Mega-star Sharon Cuneta" of the Philippines. He said, "Baby A. Gil" is "ALSO", ONE of the "SUPERVISING producers of music albums" of "VIVA Records (Philippines)", the largest and the most powerful recording company in the Philippines - this is a SUBSIDIARY of "VIVA Entertainment Group", the largest and the most powerful ENTERTAINMENT company that produces films, television shows, music records and home videos. They also export their products to the United States. They handle the career of "Mega-star Sharon Cuneta" FOR "THIRTY-FIVE YEARS", NOW, since they launched her first single "MR. DJ" in 1978. They also handle the career of another NEW "Mega-star Sarah Geronimo" and many stars in the Philippines. "Vic Del Rosario, Jr." is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of "VIVA Entertainment Group, Inc.". So, "Baby A. Gil" is like "Ann Edelblute" and "Vic Del Rosario, Jr." is like "Simon Fuller" of "XIX, Inc./19 Entertainment Limited, Inc." IT IS INDEED "A GREAT HONOR" that Carrie is being reviewed and spared some of the time by "Baby A. Gil" because Baby has MULTIPLE JOBS and a WORKAHOLIC in the Philippine Entertainment Industry (My Filipino-American friend told me.). KUDOS to Carrie!!!

I agree!!! ALSO, Ann, is a GREAT RESEARCHER. I am really interested in making a research, IF, "Baby A. Gil" is ACTIVELY INVOLVED in handling the career of "Mega-star Sharon Cuneta of the Philippines for THIRTY-FIVE YEARS" and another "NEW Mega-star Sarah Geronimo". OR, is it just "Vic Del Rosario, Jr.", the CEO. AND, why "Baby A. Gil" became interested in REVIEWING Carrie's "Blown Away" album - THE FACT that the PHILIPPINES is a MAINSTREAM POP/ROCK "MUSIC MARKET". Very interesting, to know. She wrote an article about "Elvis Presley", though.

I love this srticle. One of the reasons I enjoyed it so is that the writer hit dead on my opinions of most of the songs including WAY. Really well written and you can see the writer actually thought about Carrie's growth. Probably my favorite so far. Thanks for finding it. It really made my day as things have been on a real downer for me, that was a nice pick me up. Does not make up for the fact that my disability check went from supporting myself and two grandkids to also having my grandson's father under my roof with no job.it was supposed to be about a week and has been three months.....can not tell you how much I want my house back to me and the kiids. It is one thing to be poor, but to go a step down from that is a downer. This put a smile on my face and for the rest, I have faith that I will survive

I read from Mike Fisher's book, "Defender Of Faith", that THROUGH THE STORM - GOD remains the ANCHOR in his LIFE and Mike HAS PROVEN that the BLESSINGS WILL COME - when the RIGHT TIME COMES. Mike Fisher is a man, WHO NEVER GAVE UP A DREAM, despite of being SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN HE WAS NINETEEN YEARS OLD while playing at the NHL. (And once doubted that he will be able to play again at the NHL.). He puts his FAITH in CHRIST FIRST and has demonstrated his LOVE FOR GOD any time at any circumstances. During an interview, Mike said that his mother told him, WHILE her mother was READING THE BIBLE, that GOD will use it for "GOOD THINGS". Mike, at the age of thirty-two, NOW, has a lot TO BE PROUD OF as a VETERAN of the National Hockey League FOR THIRTEEN YEARS and as a HUSBAND OF OUR BELOVED "Carrie Underwood".

Mike Fisher 12:12, Romans 12:12 - "Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful." - Rejoice in HOPE, endure in AFFLICTION, persevere in PRAYER. Believe me, this has BEEN PROVEN - in MY LIFE, too. You have to LOVE GOD, with all your heart; with all your soul; with all your strength and with all your mind.

It was former judge Simon Cowell, who made the prediction. Carrie Underwood will sell more than any winner of American Idol (AI). And he was proven right and that was one of the few instances when AI’s choice turned out perfect. Underwood’s bio as of this date carries very impressive stats.

Her first three albums, Some Hearts, Carnival Ride and Play On, have already sold over 14 million copies and boasted of 14 No. 1 singles. She has already won five Grammies and had been named Entertainer of the Year twice by the Academy of Country Music and Female Vocalist of the Year three times by the Country Music Association.

If this pace keeps up, it will not be long before the name Carrie will be mentioned in the same breath as Tammy, Reba and Loretta, those legendary ladies of country music, and nobody will be likely to think, what is Underwood doing in that list? I got the feeling that this is going to happen soon after listening to her fourth, latest, and I can say, best album, Blown Away.

If I remember right, the Carrie that we met in AI was a small town girl who took her first plane ride when she joined the contest in season four. She came up against country rocker Bo Bice in the finals. Today the Carrie of Blown Away is smart, sophisticated and judging from the cover pics, very glamorous.

Blown Away shows remarkable growth in her creativity since Play On two years ago and such daring in the choice and treatment of her songs. This girl is no pop music diva. She is a true artist. While she had gingerly tested the parameters of country music in her previous albums, she now totally breaks out of the boundaries. Not to be somebody else, but to reinvent the music to her own terms.

Carrie rocks hard in the opener and first single release Good Girl. She is all heartache in the ballad, Do You Think About Me. For young listeners, she gives friendly advice in Nobody Ever Told You. She goes all tender and sentimental about losing one’s mind in Forever Changed and introduces Caribbean to country with One Way Ticket.

This does not mean though that she totally neglects her roots. For fans who want something typically country, there are the radio friendly Leave Love Alone; Cupid’s Got A Shotgun, a jaunty jig that has the makings of a great next single; and the sweet Wine After Whiskey.

I do not know if any of these will be released as singles. Maybe not because they are not your usual country tunes. But believe you me, these are cuts that are sure to blow you away in Blown Away. The title song, Two Black Cadillacs, See You Again, Thank God For Hometowns, Good In Goodbye, and Who Are You.

The title track is a story about child abuse. Set during a storm, the young girl hopes the wind and rain can take the pain away. This is very strong material showcased in an ingenious arrangement that brings this song out of the realm of country music. It is almost epic and Carrie’s singing soars beautifully.

Two Black Cadillacs is also a strange choice. Given the lush orchestration, one initially gets the impression that this is a love song. It is in a way, but of a love gone wrong because here are a wife and a mistress plotting the murder of you know who. Very clever.

Next are my choices for her best vocals in the CD. Carrie has excellent command of her singing. It seems as though she knows instinctively when to pull back and just enjoy the nuances of the lyrics or when to get into power mode. Check out what she does with the charming country pop tune See You Again from the movie Chronicles of Narnia; the touching Thank God For Hometowns which I see as Carrie’s “home” song; and the soulful Good In Goodbye.

And now for the grand finale and also the best of them all. Remember how much we all loved Carrie’s Jesus Takes The Wheel? She puts one over that by sounding heavenly with the power ballad Who Are You. This girl really takes your breath away.

Read again the review of "Baby A. Gil", "ONE" of the SUPERVISING Music Producers of VIVA Entertainment Group Inc. Viva Entertainment Group Inc. is the largest and the most powerful Film Maker, Producer of Television Shows and Home Videos and Record Company in the Philippines who is managing the career of Sharon Cuneta, a MEGASTAR for more than THIRTY-FIVE years.

    FANTASTIC review!

    FANTASTIC review!
And I also met the VOCAL COACH of Sharon Cuneta since she was in high school at St. Paul College, Manila, Philippines in 1978. Her vocal coach WAS renowned songwriter Cecile Azarcon and I met her at Saddleback Church, California where Rick Warren, the author of the book "Purpose Driven Life" (THE BOOK THAT CARRIE AND MIKE READ.) is Cecile's PASTOR.
