Carrie Underwood and Carrie Underwood Top This Week's Charts
The Mavericks Return With New EP and Single
June 9, 2012; Written by Edward Morris

Miss Underwood, the charts are yours. Please use them as long as you like, then deposit them in the bin marked "Wow!"

Yes, indeed, Carrie Underwood's latest single, "Good Girl," has now reached the top of Billboard's country songs chart to claim equal rank with Underwood's album, Blown Away, which has resided on the peak of the CD list for the past five weeks.

New to the albums chart is the circuitously titled Opus Collection: Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Birth of Johnny Cash, debuting at No. 6. (Wonder if it contains Cash's immortal "I Traverse on Foot the Figurative but Firm Demarcation Between Temptation and Fidelity"?)

Also new: Wade Bowen's Given (No. 9), the Mavericks' Suited Up and Ready EP (No. 47) and Hank Williams' The Greatest Hits Live: Volume 2 (No. 67).

The Essential Brooks & Dunn re-enters at No. 65 and the soundtrack Country Strong: More Music From the Motion Picture at No. 73.

There are three new songs to declare: the Mavericks' "Born to Be Blue" (No. 54), Bucky Covington's "I Wanna Be That Feeling" (No. 59) and Lionel Richie's "Deep River Woman" with Little Big Town (No. 60).

Jaida Dreyer's "Guy's Girl" and Taylor Swift's "Eyes Open" come back to the songs chart at No. 55 and No. 58, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 5 albums segment are Luke Bryan's Tailgates & Tanlines, Richie's Tuskegee, Eric Church's Chief and Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party, in that order.

Songs No. 2 through No. 5 are Church's "Springsteen," the Zac Brown Band's "No Hurry," Kip Moore's "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck" (last week's No. 1) and Bryan's "Drunk on You."

Was that you I saw in the parking lot at CMA Music Festival? Nasty!

Are there any new country albums coming out soon that will threaten BA's spot at #1? And does anyone know how many weeks Some Hearts was the #1 country album and how that compares to the album that's been there the longest?

Looks pretty impressive in print! Love the bin marked 'wow" comment! too great - I think there are some album debuts( Alan Jackson?) coming up that will be ahead of Carrie but maybe her performances at CMA fest week will raise her sales numbers somewhat

Garth Brooks popular album No Fences spent 23 weeks atop country.

Don't know about Shania or Taylors albums - they may have the most at country #1, looking for stats

Alan Jackson's album will debut at #1 country album this upcoming week. Projected sales are in the 68k-73k range whereas BA is projected at 27k-30k.
