Carrie Underwood, Steven Tyler Duet Rumored for New Aerosmith Album

Are Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler dueting on the new Aerosmith record? That’s the rumor.

Mjsbigblog reports that an in-the-know fan broke the news that the singers may be working together. Underwood and Tyler, who are connected via their history with ‘American Idol’ — with her being Season 4′s winner and he being a judge since Season 10 — as well as their CMT Crossroads special and performances and their 2011 ACM Awards performance, allegedly recorded a country duet. The song is said to appear on ‘Music From Another Dimension,’ the new album by Tyler’s classic rock band Aerosmith, which is due out on Aug. 28.

Word is that the classic rockers recorded a ballad written by Marti Fredrickson last summer in its native Boston. Fredrickson suggested that the band turn it into a duet, featuring a female country singer. Underwood, who has a great voice for a crossover, supposedly added her signature sound to the song in the past few days.

Sources who’ve heard a taste of the song dubbed it a “surefire smash” with potential to cross over into multiple radio formats. That, combined with the long and loyal fanbases of both Underwood, Tyler and Aerosmith, translates to a recipe for global success.

The fan’s Facebook post on the duet was deleted after band drummer Joey Kramer dropped a somewhat threatening tweet. “Stealing @Aerosmith thunder look up the word PROSECUTION!” he posted. Yikes. Sounds like the band didn’t want someone else getting the scoop and is hopping mad about it.

There has been no confirmation from either camp about this duet, but his social media rant is pretty telling. If the rumors are true, we love that Aerosmith are getting their country on, as opposed to Carrie simply getting her rock on!

The ‘Good Girl’ isn’t the only country gal or former ‘Idol’ contestant to appear on the new Aerosmith album. ‘Idol’ Season 11 runner up Lauren Alaina contributed background vocals, too.

Carrie is "ONE" of "THE BEST OF THE BEST" in the music industry and she is about SOMETHING that is "WORTHY OF LASTING". Why on earth would Carrie settle for creating something MEDIOCRE that DOES LITTLE MORE THAN MAKE MONEY, when Carrie can CREATE SOMETHING OUTSTANDING THAT IS WORTHY OF LASTING as well? And in the end, those who make something worthy of lasting - something ENDURING and SUBSTANTIAL - MAKE MORE MONEY "OVER THE LONG THE RUN" like what Carrie is doing!!! I am MOST PROUD of Carrie having had a duet with "HALL OF FAME, LEGEND and ICON - Steven Tyler and Aerosmith", "LEGEND and ICON - Tony Bennett", "LEGEND and ICON - Loretta Lynn and Randy Travis", and VETERAN PREMIER ARTIST - Brad Paisley. With the DUET and having a background vocals of LEGEND and ICON - Vince Gill. Carrie is also widely admired by OTHER LEGENDS, ICONS and PREMIER ARTISTS ALIKE - "Smokey Robinson", "Don Henley of the Eagles", "Dolly Parton", "Rascal Flatts", "Kenny Chesney", "Keith Urban", etc. Carrie made an INDELIBLE IMPRINT in the MUSIC INDUSTRY!!!

Carrie aspire to create SOMETHING BIGGER and MORE LASTING "than HERSELF" - an ongoing artist who ROOTED HER LIFE in a set of TIMELESS CORE VALUES, that she and Mike exist FOR A PURPOSE, BEYOND JUST MAKING MONEY, and that they STAND THE TEST OF TIME by virtue of their "ABILITY TO CONTINUALLY RENEW THEMSELVES from WITHIN".

Though Im thrilled at the possible duet, this could potentially become troubling. If it is a sure-fire smash, what if they have prospects to release it as a single, wouldnt that disrupt Carrie's single-release schedule?? I have a pretty good feeling that PO didnt get a fifth single because they were planning on releasing RM, I hope that doesnt happen this era

It would almost be guaranteed to be a single if it is true, it would just be a matter of when to release it. As far as RM replacing PO 5th single. RM wasn't even written until PO era had already ended. Brad put off his release of his cd because he felt it was missing something which turned out to be RM

Lots of artists have two singles climbing the charts at tge same time if one is a duet or collab. Not a big deal at all.

There are rumours (unconfirmed) that the song might be "Beautiful" (track 2 on the forthcoming album). Marti Frederiksen is a long term Aerosmith collaborator, credited with playing a big part in their contemporary resurgence

Marti Frederiksen co-wrote two of the songs on Play On (Mama's Song and Undo It). He said that Carrie and Luke came to the writing session determined to make something happen, and they finished both songs in one session (He also said that Mama's song started him crying, and that made Carrie cry too). He clearly knows Carrie's feel for a song, and when he suggested Aerosmith turned his new song into a duet with "a female country singer" it's pretty likely he wasn't thinking of anyone else.

Tx Faraway Hills!! It all makes sense with the Marti connection.

Plus Marti was at the cmt crossroads to support carrie and steven as he is friends with steven. He tweeted about it alot.

They may have discussed the duet then because carrie abd steven gave a very evasive, suspicious reply to an interview during superbowl week about future collabs together. They looked guilty lol. And steven said something about getting the labels to agree.

So maybe the delay was getting the labels to agree.
