    Underwood tops Canadian album sales this week

    Country star Carrie Underwood took out the competition on the Canadian album charts this week with her aptly titled, “Blown Away.”

    The American Idol winner’s fourth studio release notched 17,300 in sales, beating her 2009 disc, “Play On,” by over 2,000 units, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

    I mean, no holiday release and managed to ousell PO first week sales. If that's not huge, I don't know what that is.

    And this is why Carrie never promotes her album in Canada, the album sales here are relatively insignificant to her total sales.

    Album sales, maybe, but she probably makes a ton of money from her tour stops here. I think her PO show in my city in 2010 sold close to 12,000 tickets.

    You guys have such a great country fanbase in western Canada. She didn't pull that many people in her Toronto stop during the PO show and we're not on the first leg of the tour for BA. The good news is that she's still #1 on the iTunes all genre album chart in Canada.
