Carrie Underwood's country make-believe on her new album Blown Away + Aus.Tour Dates

Carrie Underwood's country make-believe on her new album Blown Away | thetelegraph.com.au

Listen to her tough girl tunes and gutsy ballads and you'd think Carrie Underwood's life was rough and full of heartbreak. Her new album, Blown Away, is rife with songs of revenge, abuse and love gone wrong - but with a happy marriage and huge music career, she is far from broken.
"Being in love and having my wonderfully normal life outside of the music business, I feel like I really want to play different characters," the world's biggest female country music singer tells Insider from New York.
"I want to go somewhere else with my songs other than, 'Look how happy I am, I love my husband so much'."
The Oklahoma-born Underwood, 29, is focusing on getting her new tunes out to the world. She will tour Australia for the first time in June, performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and even Tamworth.

"I haven't been to Tamworth and I heard Keith Urban played there and loved it, and it sold out super-dooper quick," she says. "Obviously there's a huge love for country music there, so I thought it would be a great idea."
Being the king and the queen of country music, as well as Nashville neighbours, it's no surprise Urban and Underwood are friends.
They have toured and played at numerous events together, including the Academy of Country Music Awards.
"He's such a nice guy," Underwood says of the coach from The Voice. "He's really quiet offstage, which is something I don't think people would guess because he's so open and such a showman once he's in front of the crowd, but he's actually a really mild-mannered guy."
Underwood hopes husband Mike Fisher will join her on tour to celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary on July 11. She met the Canadian ice hockey player backstage at one of her concerts in 2008, and they were married secretly in Georgia.
With Fisher not being a fan of bus travel, Underwood says the fact that she had to fly from state to state was a lot more appealing to him.
Underwood says she's in no rush to start a family and wants to see where her career takes her.
"One of our jobs would suffer severely, so we're not really there yet. We've only been married two years so I really like having this time, just me and him and our dogs."
Underwood burst onto the scene in 2005 when she won American Idol. Since then she's notched up five Grammys, six American Music Awards and dozens of country music gongs.
The show was a last chance for Underwood, who was studying mass communication and had all but given up on a future in singing. Now she is the most successful Idol in the show's history.
Aside from the million-dollar recording contract and Ford Mustang convertible, winning gave her the confidence boost she needed.

Her post-Idol debut album, Some Hearts, was the highest selling of 2006 in the US and certified seven times platinum. Her second and third albums also managed to achieve similar chart success.
Her fourth album Blown Away, with its mix of upbeat country pop and darker tracks, no doubt will appeal to her enormous fan base.
Underwood says she lives for the moment and the future's a mystery.
"I try not to think too far ahead and just enjoy what's going on right now," she says.

Underwood will play at Tamworth's TRECC on June 29 and the Sydney Opera House on July 2. Tickets on sale from 9am on May 14 at sydneyoperahouse.com; (02) 9250 7777 and visittamworth.com; (02) 6767 3500

It is great she is playing the Opera House and more than one concert in Australia. I had the great pleasure of attending a show at the Opera ages ago and loved it. Too bad I'm not rich I could become a Carrie groupie, lol.

I'm happy that Carrie will finally tour in Australia. It's great that her music is making it across the globe and that more people will have the opportunity to see Carrie perform live in concert. I'm sure Carrie will be a great success Down Under, they seemed to like her last time she visited. If you're attending any of Carrie's Australian concerts, be sure to post a review and lots of photos! Thank you!
