Thompson Square Share 10 Grammy-Winning Country Duets

"I Told You So," Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood
Best Country Collaboration With Vocals, 2009

Shawna: The first time I heard Carrie singing that, I was like, "Dang it! Why didn't I think of that?" Every once in a while there's a cover song where you think, "That might be cool to cut." What a fantastic song. It's just brilliant. We love Randy Travis.

Keifer: [The original version] was at the end of an era for traditional country music, but he was a massive artist, and he had such a big collection of timeless songs that will always be around. There's no other voice like him, and there probably won't be. You hopefully get an opportunity to write a couple of songs like that in your lifetime.

Except some envy that she came up with the idea. It is on the the list though.

I heard a little envy n the voice to.
But that actually speaks volumes about Carries rendition.
It is true when you hear something that just works so perfectly, you do have that "why didn't I think of that" moment.
It's a great indicator of just what an intuative artist Carrie is.
And you also can't deny that the song itself was the plater that served up Carries (and Randys) voices so beautifully.
Very often the song itself is going to be a hit regardless of who sings it ("The Rose/The Wind Beneath My Wings")

Awesome. Thompson Square are great. I have heard a few of their songs. They're really good. Glad they mentioned Carrie. Her rendition of 'I Told You So' was stunning. ♥
