    CMA's: Radio Reacts (Country Aircheck)

Some awesome comments about Carrie and Brad!

Country radio’s reaction to Wednesday’s (11/9) 45th Annual CMA Awards telecast is overwhelmingly positive, but two moments stand out in particular: Brad and Carrie’s opening monologue and the tribute to Glen Campbell.

The natural chemistry between Paisley and Underwood was mentioned frequently as seemingly looser than ever in this, their fourth year hosting the CMAs. The entire opening segment was considered a winner, thanks to two bits in particular. Sirius XM Sr. Dir./Country Programming John Marks calls the Hank Williams, Jr. sneak attack “the most memorable part of the show. It was both topical and funny; I’m still chuckling over it.” That was topped minutes later, says consultant Joel Raab: “The Tim and Faith Barbie doll segment is a classic.” KRTY/San Jose GM Nate Deaton calls Paisley “this decade’s Vince Gill.” KSD/St. Louis PD Steve Stewart says Paisley and Underwood “deserve to be signed as hosts for many years to come,” while Raab suggests, “I can see them hosting the Oscars.”

^^ Nice comments, but they didn't even mention the Remind Me performance? Strange, since they mentioned several performances.

Awesome! Nice to see they loved Brad and Carrie.

Too bad the Remind Me performance was not mentioned, but maybe because that opening hosting gig sort of outshined everything else. lol

To be honest, love Carrie but the Remind Me performance wasn't the greatest and so I can see why it wasn't mentioned. I rather them not mention it than trash it. But I loved everything else Brad and Carrie did. Their hosting was the best it's ever been and their little singing bits/monologue was great/funny and sounded great. They seemed so relaxed and natural and the material they had was funny. Overall they did a great job.

^^Agree, but considering some of the performances they "loved", I thought surely RM would have been mentioned at least being performed. It might not have been the best performance from Brad and Carrie, but it was far better than some. But, I am thrilled they highlighted the great job Brad and Carrie did hosting. They were fantastic! Look forward to them hosting for many years!

I understand. They could have at least mentioned that Brad and Carrie sang together and the name of the song. Oh well. At least they mentioned her hosting though, which is great.

I thought the Remind Me performance was stellar..... The reason it wasn't mentioned is because it was over shadowed by their ever increasing chemistry and amazing hosting ability.... LOL
Man some people on this site can't see the forest because there's too many damn trees in the way....... Take the compliment and be proud of our girl(!)

lol, very true. I thought RM was amazing as well! I am still blown away by that performance. I think the problem is that Carrie have spoiled us with her performances going viral that we expect the same all the time!

I agree that I think they ecliped "themseleves" by doing such a great job hosting.
I think there was not a lot of focus while they were singing because they were obviously very preoccupied running the entire thing.
And I think there has to be something said for the fact that they are both very real and genuine people who probably had a little discomfort "playing the role" of the song with their partners and the entire world watching. Carrie is simply not a mushy person. And brad was clearly not going to play the romantic angle with his wife in the audeince. I think it was predictable and safe that they sang it "straight" and it still showed off both of their abilities and certainly proved that if anyone deserved an EOTY award it should have been either or both of them.
But yes, I think the amazing job they were doing hosting actually overshadowed the performance.

The comments about the hosting is far more impressive than anything they can say about the performance. Everyone knows Carrie and Brad can perform. But noone including Brad and Carrie knew what to expect when they got the hosting job 3 years ago. When you pick a host for an awards show, you hope to get someone who can keep the show interesting and flowing. And you pray that at the very least, the host does not bring the whole show down (i.e. the CMT Awards since Jeff Foxworthy stopped hosting). But it is a bonus and a rare thing when the host of an awards show (and especially the host of a music awards show that features so many performances) actually delivers some of the top highlights of the show. That is where Carrie and Brad are now. And that puts them in very select company.

Very well said! I think Brad & Carrie have this co-host gig as long as they want it!! Didn't Vince host for like 10 years?

Vince Gill (sometimes alone, sometimes with a co-host) hosted the CMA for 12 years. Reba has hosted the ACMs for 13 years. Once they find a host or hosts that work, they tend to stick with them.
