Great Comment From Jimmy Carter On Brad/Carrie Hosting Job

    From Jimmy Carter's weekly column:

For a few minutes on November 9th, Brad Paisley was the funniest man in America. Carrie is a real Gracie Allen! (YouTube her)

The Hank Jr moment was surprising and very cool. Not without some controversy, too. I got an e-mail. Hank is not universally loved but I personally thought it was great! The Barbies, Little Jimmy ... their whole act was very funny ... I laughed more at them than Leno lately, that's for sure.

At least he got the hosting part right. I was laughing during the whole monologue. 100x better than anything on these night time shows.

On the side note, great to hear his comment about Scott Borchetta-"King of the world". lol
And Blake and Miranda are indeed the George and Tammy of today.
I love how he said, "Last time to ever defend Taylor Swift..." ok, if you say so.

Ugh just read his diatribe on Taylor. Annoying as hell. Why do so many old or middle-aged men like her? seriously.

She was GEORGE BURNS WIFE.... They did stand up as BURNS and ALLEN
George Played the straight man to Gracie's scatterbrained humor... Believe me Tee it's a huge compliment to Carrie to be compared to Gracie Allen.....
They would sign off their routine by George saying......
    Say Goodnight Gracie...
And then of course Gracie would say....
    Goodnight Gracie..... LOL

Actually Brad mentioned that He and Carrie remind him of Burns and Allen except Brad was Gracie(scatterbrained humor) and Carrie was George (the straight man) and I agree.

Tee you need to hear some of the Burns and Allen stuff from radio and they had a TV show. That was humor. Not even a need to swear to get the laugh. Those were the days.

I remember Brad saying in an interview this year how he thought he was Gracie & Carrie was George, in terms of being goofy vs straight-laced. Lol

I wonder if all of this praising of Carrie and her vocal's and such from Brad is I think he's trying to tell Nashville and these award shows that, "Hey! Hello! Don't you know that Carrie is the best vocalist in country music and she's the one who deserves FVOTY award win?!" That's what I'm thinking.

It does not matter -- the award show people are DEAF anyway --their ears need to be replaced by BIONIC EARS !

    Thats awesome.

I loved the Barbies skit. Carrie and Brad ripping off the dolls' clothes. Something about
    "There's nothing there!"

    "Poor Faith!"

    I just about died.

plus they have their own agendas...which does not unfortunately always include the real "best vocalist!"

Agree, I used to watch The George Burns and Gracie Allen show every week. They were so funny -- now all I have to say is "Say Goodnight Gracie."

I don't want to create a thread for this, but I just saw some great comments about Carrie on the Montreal Gazette!

Wednesday's 45th Annual CMA Awards, a three-hour celebration of all things country hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will air directly opposite The X Factor's second live performance show of the season. Country-music award shows fare better on TV than you might expect.

Heavy on foot-stomping, show-stopping live performances and light on posturing from the podium -- call it what you will, country is rarely, if ever, pretentious or self-serving -- country-music award shows play more like full-blown concerts than anything else. Underwood, who brought a cold-eyed, steely determination to her meteoric run on American Idol, has only grown more assured and confident as a performer since her days as a TV talent-contest winner. Underwood and Paisley are slated to sing their No. 1 hit duet, "Remind Me," in what ABC is billing as their first live performance of the song on national television.

More viewers will watch The X Factor than the CMA Awards tonight -- CTV has more reach than the patchwork network of local stations that will air the CMA Awards -- but don't think for a second that country is passe. Underwood is a star -- a genuine star. And The X Factor has yet to prove it can produce one of those.

"More viewers will watch The X Factor than the CMA Awards tonight" = I think he was talking about Montreal, since he talked about CTV.
