    Soul Surfer - Review

Yeah I know it's late but the movie hasn't been released here and this is my review of it:
Soul Surfer – Movie Review « A Separate State of Mind

This is the part pertaining to Carrie:

Carrie Underwood holds her own in her movie debut as the youth pastor Sarah Hill. She is in about five scenes where she serves as guidance for Bethany and she does her job as a supportive character with flying colors. I had no idea what to expect from Carrie because I have never seen her take on a serious acting role of this magnitude before (although she has shown some acting chops in her Just a Dream and Temporary Home videos as well as a comedic side in a guest role on How I Met Your Mother) but I was pleasantly surprised. She held her own, did not over-act or under-act and gave the character the amount of emotion it deserved. And no, I’m not being biased.

I really enjoyed SS. I was enthralled by Bethany's perseverance and her family's support and dedication. I also thought CArrie acted her role very well.

I really liked it too. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

I agree. Her performance wasn't spectacular enough to significantly impact the movie but wasn’t terrible either to hinder the movie in anyway. It was just adequate and she blended in well. For a singer turned actor, I would say that it is pretty good considering the number of singers/actors who have single-handily destroyed an entire movie.

Just watched the movie... Honestly, I didn't enjoy the first parts that much except when carrie was singing Blessed Be Your Name... But after the Shark attack, everything was GREAT! And I love the movie very much... Carrie was great! She did what she had to do for the movie...

Same here. I didn't expect to like the movie as much as I did. At first I watched with the sole intention of just watching Carrie.

What a great story. My fave scene is when Bethany teaches the little boy how to surf. Very touching and inspiring.

My favorite part was that too and also the very end w/ the real footage of Bethany Hamilton. That was a touching story that made me cry/tear up.

That part was adorable. Watched it again tonight and loved that scene as well. It was so cute how he kept getting closer and closer slowly but surely LOL.

I watched SS two nights ago.
It's a really beautiful movie. At first, I just wanted to see it because Carrie's was it, but I ended up having a great time watching it. Nice story, nicelly told, and great actors.

And I agree with the most of the rest of you guys. I didn't have any idea there was a tsunami-mention in the movie, and the part of the surfing-teaching was amazing. So emotional.
