Brad Paisley Feat. Carrie Underwood, ‘Remind Me’ – Song Review (Taste of Country)

Brad Paisley Feat. Carrie Underwood, ‘Remind Me’ – Song Review
    By: Billy Dukes

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have famously teamed up to host the CMA Awards in recent years, but their efforts on ‘Remind Me,’ the new single from Paisley’s ‘This Is Country Music‘ album, could have them pairing up to accept a few of those awards in November. The duet is Paisley’s finest since his work with Dolly Parton in 2005.

Underwood’s vocals are pristine, and Paisley does more than enough to keep up. Late in the song he flexes his muscle in a back and forth spar with Underwood, who plays the role of his wife in this song. Initially it’s difficult to imagine the two friends getting steamy, but that’s long forgotten by the time the two get to an assault of one-line lyrics meant to slap awake any lazy husbands and wives listening.

I love the last part... "...somehow this story has never been told before. Or perhaps it’s just never been told by such gifted storytellers."

Loved that part also! Brad is such a great storyteller. And yet another adjective for Carrie's vocals: pristine.

I read comments on another site talking about Tim/Faith would have done better. Well they had years of opportunity to tell this kind of a story in a song. Amazing how this song came together in a matter of a day or so.

    YAY!!

You would have thought I would get to hear RM in the 9 hour drive I had from Nashville, but no. I didn't get to hear it until I drove to the airport in KC to pick up my daughter at 1:30am!! I am dying at work today, but it was worth hearing the song at 1:30am!!!

I think Brad and Carrie do a wonderful job with RM. I guess the argument could me made with regards to the tim and Faith comments -- since they are actually married to EACH OTHER, the "steamy" aspect may be more conducive for them.

Finally, a reviewer that gets that the back and forth at the end of the song perfectly expresses the passion and remembrance and longing that Brad and Carrie are trying to convey. It's not too much noise - it's perfect!
"Thank you for that ‘Captain Obvious’ sense of humor because you know what, we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well."
-Kelly Clarkson to Scott Borchetta about American Idol artists
    Thanks so much Danielle!
