Carrie Underwood Set For Country Success
The Academy of Country Music Awards nominations have been announced, with Carrie Underwood up for six prizes and Taylor Swift in the running for five.
Carrie Underwood has been nominated for six Academy of Country Music Awards.
The singer will fight it out to retain her Top Female Vocalist of the Year accolade - which she has won for the last three years - and the coveted Entertainer of the Year prize, which she was given at last year's ceremony.
She faces stiff competition for the latter award from five-time winner Kenny Chesney, hotly tipped Taylor Swift, Toby Keith and George Strait.
Brad Paisley and Keith Urban are also nominated for the honour, with the Zac Brown Band the final nominee for Entertainer of the Year.
Carrie will also go head-to-head with Taylor in the Top Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year - for 'Cowboy Casanova' and 'You Belong With Me' respectively - categories, while her other nominations are for Vocal Event of the Year for 'I Told You So' with Randy Travis and Album of the Year for 'Play On'.
Song of the Year counts twice for both artists, for their singing and composing duties.
Taylor is up for a total of five awards, including
Video of the Year for 'You Belong With Me'.
Lady Antebellum lead the nominations with seven nods including Top Vocal Group and Song of the Year, for 'Need You Now'.
Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley are both up for four prizes.
The awards will be handed out at a Las Vegas ceremony on April 18. Presenters and performers for the show have not yet been announced.
