Carrie loves Mike, and she wants everyone to know it.

Carrie Underwood, the popular country music singer, has finally spilled the beans about her feelings for hockey player Mike Fisher.

In the liner notes of her just-released CD Play On, Underwood writes “thank you #12” — which just happens to be Fisher’s sweater number with the Ottawa Senators.

“You are the most amazing addition to my life!” the notes carry on. “You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much. You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day ... xoxo, Carrie.”

Underwood, 26, and Fisher, 29, have been dating for more than a year, but the notes are the singer’s first public acknowledgment of her feelings for the Senators forward. The couple met at a concert last year and have always downplayed their relationship.

Underwood, who was raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma and spends a lot of time in Nashville, has been sighted at several Sens home games, ducking out of sight whenever the TV cameras spotted her. She was in a private box Saturday to watch the Sens play the Atlanta Thrashers, then accompanied Fisher, friends and some relatives to Fratelli’s restaurant in Kanata for dinner, before heading to Senator Jason Spezza’s home for a Halloween bash with other players.

“They looked really happy together,” said an observer who noticed the couple at the restaurant.

Until recently, Fisher, too, was reluctant to discuss his relationship with Underwood, but he recently talked about her on The Sens Show, a web news program controlled by the team.

“Obviously, it’s tough with our schedules to see each other, but we find a way to make it work,” he said.

“She doesn’t get too many days off — a lot less days off than I get. She’s always going. She’s talented and she’s getting rewarded for it. That’s good to see.”

The remarks were later broadcast on ET Canada and printed in People and US magazines.

In the interview, Fisher said his favourite song from Play On is Temporary Home. “I like it when she sings a good rock song,” he said. Fisher added he likes to sing too, “but when I try to sing some of her songs, she just laughs.”

Underwood, who got her start on American Idol, is one of the hottest crossover country stars on the charts. As a young girl she began performing at the Free Will Baptist Church and is a devout Christian. One of her biggest hits from her previous CD was Jesus Take The Wheel.

Fisher is also a devout Christian and during the off-season devotes his time to hockey camps in his hometowns of Peterborough and Kingston through Hockey Ministries International. This summer, while Underwood was recording Play On, he made a charity trip to El Salvador on behalf of World Vision.

On Monday Underwood appeared on The Late Show With Dave Letterman to promote the CD, followed by appearances on Good Morning America Tuesday and Live with Regis & Kelly today.

The CD is rising up the music charts and the first single, Cowboy Casanova, sold 110,000 copies in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD is No. 21 on the Billboard music charts.

The article combined answers Mike had to two different questions. It didn't mean that TH is a rock song.

He was asked what his favorite song of Carrie's is and he said TH. Then he was asked if he could pick a song for her to sing what would it be and he said a good rock song.
