Carrie Underwood has the cover of the new Billboard magazine. The article talks about immediate plans for promoting Play On, out Nov. 3, as well as Carrie's long-range goals. Carrie also talks about opening up as a songwriter (she co-wrote seven of the new album's 13 tracks.)
Carrie says having to follow the multi-platinum success of Some Hearts created a lot of pressure for her as she made Carnival Ride. But she feels like she's home on the upcoming Play On. "I'm in the music business," she tells Billboard. "When people mention names like Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban and Brad Paisley, sometimes my name is in there too."
She likes collaborating with people outside her genre (like Kara DioGuardi, Chantal Kreviazuk, Our Lady Peace singer Raine Maida or Mike Elizondo, who's known for his hip-hop work. "Bringing somebody from a different world into my world to see what their influence can do in my writing style -- it's a lot of fun," she says. But such collaborations doesn't mean she's got crossover dreams. "I'm promising right now it would never happen."
Don't expect to see her on Twitter. "It just sounds like organized stalking to me," she says. So any accounts you see on the site don't belong to her.
