The Season 4 American Idol winner has had a record-breaking 10 number one singles. This makes her the first Country artist in history to have all their singles from their first two albums land the top spots on the music charts.
Her American Idol winning single, “Inside your heaven” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Five months later in November of 2005, Underwood released her debut album Some Hearts along with its first single, “Jesus, take the wheel”, which was number one on the U.S. Hot Billboard Country songs chart for six consecutive weeks.
“Don’t forget to remember me”, the album’s third single, reached number one on the Radio and Records Country chart. The following single, “Before he cheats” proved to be Underwood’s biggest hit from her debut album. It made it into the top 20 of the Hot Country Songs chart prior to the release of its’ music video and stayed at number one for five consecutive weeks. “Before he cheats” was also a major crossover hit. It appeared in the top 20 of every music chart in which it appeared, including the Hot 100.

The last single released from Some Hearts was another success for Underwood. “Wasted” peaked at number one for three consecutive weeks on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Some Hearts was a major record-breaker for Underwood. Not only was it the highest selling country album in the U.S. in both 2006 and 2007, but also the best-selling debut album for a female country artist. The seven times certified platinum album is also the fastest selling debut country album in Nielsen Soundscan history.
Underwood’s sophomore record, Carnival Ride is no different in landing top recognition. Released in 2007, Carnival Ride debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart. The first single from the album “So small” debuted at #20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs which made it the highest chart debut for a female solo country artist in 43 years of Nielsen BDS history. “So small” held the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for three consecutive weeks.
“All-American Girl”, the second single from Carnival Ride hit number one on both the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart and on the Canadian Country Charts. Third single may have been the charm for Underwood’s second album, as it became her fastest single to land the number one spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country songs. “Last Name” became Underwood’s sixth top 20 hit.
Her fourth single, “Just a dream” was like a dream for the country music star; it held the top spot on the country charts for two weeks and became her eighth number one country single. Source
Underwood’s fifth and most recent release from Carnival Ride, “I told you so” topped the Canadian Country charts and became her fourth top 10 all-genre hit.
Like its’ predecessor, Carnival Ride has also made history. It is the first album by a female solo country artist to have five number one singles, and only the third country album overall.
Underwood’s two albums have sold 11 millions copies worldwide. The 26-year-old songstress is scheduled to release her third album this November.
Looks like America is in full support of their chosen 2005 American Idol. And Underwood is proving her victory just fine.
