Hanging Out with Carrie Underwood

FOX got to hang out with Carrie Underwood twice during our recent Nashville trip! I interviewed her at the BMI awards, while Fox Entertainment Producer Extraordinaire Ashley Dvorkin talked to her backstage at the Country Music Awards just after her big win (again!) for Female Vocalist of the Year. Carrie also co-hosted the CMAs and told us how fun it was having her mother and aunt cheering her on from the audience!
I’ve heard that Carrie is shy, but she seemed very comfortable when we talked to her. She gave us great interviews! She talked about how much she loves the country community and gave us her reaction to stars from Jessica Simpson to Darius Rucker crossing over from pop to country (She’s happy for them.)
P.S. It was COLD during our Nashville trip, but Carrie braved the elements in beautiful evening gowns – while we stood behind the cameras wearing long sleeves and winter boots! As you can imagine, I felt the opposite of glamorous next to her! Watch below to check out Carrie’s interview for yourself!

hahaha.....thanks....but I think Carrie messed up cause she said Vince Gill was on her last album....I think she meant Randy Travis instead.

No she didn't mess up. Vince does the harmony part on ITYS on CR. Randy wrote the song and gave Carrie permission to sing it but he doesn't sing on the album.

You are right.....I forgot about Vince Gill singing the harmony.....I was just thinking about her singing a Randy Travis song.....my bad....lol.

Carrie is open to do other things...Like host the CMAs again (Hint Hint, CMA...Don't be stupid...Carrie & Brad again next year)

We have a definitive statement from Carrie regards Miranda Lambert...She respects her as an artist & songwriter, and wants to "do something with her"...That would be a most intriguing pairing as they bring very different styles to the table...Would be interesting for sure

Again, Carrie praises everyone involved with her tour...2008 will be known as a defining year in Carrie's career...3 things happened that would evolve her on the path towards legend...Based on observation, I felt that Carrie thought she lacked two things...The true & full CONFIDENCE she wanted...& a small part of her I feel still thought she wasn't fully accepted by Nashville...

1st...The Opry Induction...Becoming the youngest member of the Opry "family" would give Carrie both a strong confidence boost AND a stronger sense of belonging...The Mother Church of Country Music had bestowed its' blessing on our girl...It showed...

2nd...The Headlining Tour...Carrie was reluctant about this...Remember the "What if nobody shows up" comment?? Team Carrie believed she was ready...I truly believe the whole Co-headline thing with Keith Urban was intended to show Carrie she CAN do it...And she HAS...By my reckoning over 90% sellouts of her concerts...A tremendous confidence boost for Carrie...and it SHOWED...She COMMANDS the stage now...She's having FUN...and we as fans get to enjoy it all...

3rd...The 3-peat FVOTY...Based on what we've seen & heard, THIS is the FVOTY that really MEANS something to Carrie...Consider what she said...That she had arrived to Nashville by an unconventional way, & that they didn't have to accept her...Nashville sent a strong message back this time...

Carrie...Your peers say you BELONG! Your peers say you are ACCEPTED!!

With the pieces all in place now, I can't WAIT for the 3rd cd!!! It will be astonishing!! Bank on it!!
