Ticket Sales Lower Than Expected? (In Wichita Falls)
According to this article, Carrie has only sold 3,800 out of a goal of 4,500, and total sellout of 6,000. Hopefully Carrie can sell some more before the concert tomorrow. Here is the article~
"When headline artists sign on to perform in Wichita Falls, it doesn't always mean there will be a lot of heads in line. Three- time Grammy award-winner Carrie Underwood takes the stage at the Kay Yeager Coliseum tomorrow night. Ticket sales are not as good as MPEC’s executive director had hoped. He says so far, Wichita Falls has sold about 38 hundred tickets – which is short of his goal of 45 hundred – and way short of a sellout of six thousand. In the world of country music, Carrie Underwood seems to have become that "beautiful, wonderful, perfect all-American girl" she sings about in her hit single. Last month, fans lined up at MPEC to buy tickets. “I just think she’s an awful sweet young lady, and we just kinda fell in love with her, you know, when she was on that American Idol,” said one fan. But overall, concert sales in Wichita Falls are lagging behind other cities. It's a trend MPEC’s executive director has seen before. “It’s a very strong market,” said Bob Sullivan. “The economy is good, people have a lot of interest in music … but for one reason or another, it’s difficult to get people to come out to concert.” For the Carrie Underwood concert, 6,000 seats will be available. But so far, there are plenty of open seats waiting to be sold. Bob Sullivan says people should take advantage of top artists performing right in our backyard. “If you go down to Dallas, the ticket price may be a little bit higher,” Sullivan said. “Then you’ve got to pay for the gas, you’ve got to pay for parking, you’ve got to pay for the high prices of food and beverage – we're a bargain." Krysti Forester and Megan Fox took advantage of that bargain and camped out at MPEC for tonight’s rock concert. “I think it’s cool that Wichita Falls actually does stuff like this,” Forester said. And they understand that the better the ticket sales – the more artists that Wichita Falls will be able to attract. “Come buy the tickets so we can get better people!” Fox said, with a laugh. You can still order tickets to see Carrie Underwood by calling 716-5555."
Yeah judging from the article... it has to do with the place. Because Carrie has been selling out everywhere else like crazy... and fast. I'm sure a lot of artists have trouble at this place. It doesn't seem to be a big city anyway. I think she is playing a lot of shows in that state anyway.
I checked online about a half dozen ticket sites and they only showed available 2 tickets on the floor at row 7. I wonder if the bulk of these reported unsold seats are general admission and not available online or in fact actually all gone since that report was filed? Not a ticket expert, myself. I do hope the concert sells out by tomorrow.

I haven't been able to post the data the last couple of weeks but I've been tracking ticket sales for all of Carrie's concerts. Most of Carrie's concerts have been selling great but every now and then you hit one that doesn't sell as great. Wichita Falls is one that doesn't seem to be selling as great especially compared to Carrie's other Texas concerts. I noticed a couple weeks ago that they are no longer selling $36 seats to the concert. But there were no $56 seats available and the $46 seats were selling in the upper level side section back corner.
Compare that to her concert in Lubbock which sold out within a few hours of going on sale and her Amarillo concert which also sold out within a week. Carrie's El Paso concert is also selling great. Sometimes you hit a market where it's tough.
Also... some shows don't sell seats at ticketmaster... like this one. I went on ticketmaster and you can't buy them on there. I think that is the big problem. A lot of people buy their tickets from there. Tickets now jacks up the prices too much... it's crazy.
I watched this on the 6:00 PM news. I live in OKla, but I watched the WF news. They interviewed the main man...and he was saying the same thing. Only 3800 tickets sold...he was really asking people to come out. He said they are hoping that they will sell alot at the door, tomorrow night! There have been alot of Carrie's ad's on TV, for the last month or so!! He made it sound like it was for all the concerts held there...not just Carries.
Duh...maybe it's the $4 per gallon gas and the $4 milk. Maybe people just don't have the "extra" money to go to a concert. I saw a young mother pull into a gas station yesterday, ran inside paid, ran outside pumped her gas in no time flat jumped in her car with her two kids and drove away. I thought, "boy that sure didn't take long to pump" I walked over to look at her pump.......$3....only 8/10th of a gallon. I wish I had known, I'd have slid my card in the pump for her. Maybe a lot of people are not going to concerts because of the sucky economy.
I bet Carrie came here because of it being close to Oklahoma. It probably does not help that it is in middle of the week. Hard for people to travel from near by areas when school and work is the next week. Hopefully they will give some of those tickets to the military people in town.

That is sort of a bummer--- but it is the first and only city where carrie didn't sell as well so hopefully it is a fluke.
Davilas has been posting all the ticket selling data- and it looks very encouraging overall for all the cities so far......so hopefully, this is just a small town where people can't afford to go.
The show I am going to is on Friday and it hasnt sold out yet. I keep hearing on the radio "Get your Carrie Underwood tickets now"
Maybe because Tucson isnt a big or popular city...I dunno.
Tucson's been selling fine IMO. A couple weeks ago they were selling tickets in the back of the upper level sides (Section 206 Row P which is the 4th from last row), now they're filling up the front of the upper level sides and the back of the lower level.
